12/12/23

Think any layoffs tomorrow? Remember it’s a non pay week and Tuesday. Does the chainsaw have any gas left?

A few people in Tech out of North Carolina were let go this morning. Good luck to them.

We should call him "Chainsaw Charlie"

Massive reorgs are coming to CB & WLO. Several groups should be dropping that hammer tomorrow or in their Q4 town halls. And most seem to be moving to a 4 day work week (if not there already), with end game of a full RTO by end of 2024.

even when the job market was great the last few years, people weren't jumping ship as much as you think. call it complacency or Stockholm syndrome. For many of us, myself included, if the right opportunity presented itself we would definitely consider, but we are in good teams, with good managers who care about us as well as flexibility and freedom to get our work done with minimal interference. While I don't necessarily like the direction our executives have gone, I can put up with it and making a little more money isn't enough to make up for the potential change in work/life balance. end of day, you'll find issues with any company. everything we complain about at WF will exist on some level at other companies. Better the devil you know.

The job market is not what it seems, or folks would be jumping ship left and right. Don't wish for something unless you know what you're getting yourself into.

There's a ton of US that hope it will be us. It's the ultimate Christmas gift. Getting laid off now means you'll still get the 401k match, still be eligible for bonus, and actually have one of the least stressful Christmas holidays in years.

  1. Any decent and intelligent human being wouldn’t layoff in December.
  2. Any indecent but intelligent human being would WANT to layoff but wouldn’t just to avoid the optics.
  3. Indecent/unintelligent- game on.

We know which one we are dealing with.

If there are any for tomorrow it will be minimal . I'm sure it will pickup heavily next year late January or early February.

Chainsaw is always revved up. That’s how he exerts his power, by keeping everyone thinking they are next. (Or hoping they are next!)

I’ll really be interested to see if anyone gets let go the Tuesday after Christmas.
