Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Mortgage Layoff

I am a remote underwriter and not near a HUB. We are extremely slow and have no work-management had indicated no further layoffs- has anyone heard otherwise? Just not sure how to believe no further layoffs with barely any work- my entire team maybe works 1-2 hours a day, max.

I also was an underwriter and was told I was safe and that we were “right sized”. I got laid off about a month ago.

I am predicting another significant layoff Tuesday 11/14. My team has drastically slowed down and hearing more that work is being offshored to India and Philippines. I do believe some roles will stay stateside but much smaller as offices are closing. A big red flag for me is the shutdown of Minneapolis home mortgage campus. If you're not in one of the remaining hubs, there is a significant chance you are being laid off. Those of us in hubs are not safe either as we are down to bones and getting smaller. Mortgage as we knew it at Wells Fargo is dying a slow miserable death.

first off no one here knows anything. second you may hear things like “we believe we are correctly staffed” from management but that can change at any time. no one but the highest level knows what the ultimate plan is and they’re not posting here.

Of course you are not safe. You are asking the question and posting on a layoff site knowing the answer!

If they tell you that you're safe, it's a massive red flag and you definitely aren't safe. Plan accordingly.

No layoffs because managers are told to make you voluntary leave so they don’t pay severance. We are told severance payouts will adversely impact manager bonus pools.

They are firming up plans for India to do this work.

Also, our director said our entire group was safe through early next year. Director and others were then displaced within the next month or so. Some of them don’t even know themselves. Director was well respected by many above and below. It’s a different world here today.

I was also a remote underwriter (NDS) and we had no work coming in. We were told we were safe just days before a significant number of people were laid off. Just assume your job is not safe and plan for the worst.
