So sorry for the two below who posted they were impacted. You’ll be better off in the long run, keep your heads high! But allow yourself to be sad and mad for a bit too.
My 1-1 is titled “Catch-up” and it is scheduled at 8:30am. We’ll see what happens.

For myself it was a meeting request labeled check in. The meeting was with my manager who read from a script letting me know my role was eliminated and additional instructions would be emailed. In all less than five minutes.

They’ll be using a workflow engine that requires 14 email approvals at each step along the way. They call the initiative “Path to Severance”.
Usually your manager asks you to join a meeting with them (HR will be there too but you may not know in advance) and they read you a script about te layoff, tough economic environment, wishing you the best, etc.
