It’s “depths of despair.”
The culture under Charlie and friends is going to cause so many deaths of despair.
Hold out for the severance if you can. You deserve it!
Here’s a simpler cure: leave.
I don’t say that as one of the trolls here who are likely bullies themselves, but as someone who made the choice that the toxicity and bullying weren’t worth any amount of severance, and so I finally made the difficult decision to leave voluntarily.
The new WF isn’t going to fix this problem. They’ve replaced old management with ego-maniacal, insecure, narcissists. The toxic environment is a bi-product of this decision. You can say it’s by design to drive up attrition or you can say it’s unintentional. Either way, it isn’t going away any time soon.
Stop hoping for severance. Stop hoping that things will get better if you just “hang in there.” Magical thinking isn’t going to solve the problem.
Your mental and emotional wellbeing are more valuable than severance. And believe me when I say this: your experience, hard-work, intelligence, and creativity will be valued by a future employer and you’ll be happier at work than you have been in years.
