No. Stupid question.
If I am eligible for 4 months severance, does that mean I get a check from the company every month for the next 4 months? Does it depend on whether I start a new job?

During notice, like stated, you are still working for WF. Can you take a job, yes, but if WF finds out they can take away your upcoming severance. And why in the heck anyone would want to work during that 2-month period is beyond me. You just got sacked, you still get paid, still have benefits, take some time off. Oh, and after that period is up, some states allow you to collect unemployment. So, for the next 6 months, that is if you have worked for wf for 12 years like I had, you get a WF paycheck, full benefits and unemployment checks. Double bonus!!!! I took full advantage of that as I had never received any unemployment during my lifetime, time for them to give back.
no it''s not true. you have a notice period during which you are still an employee. you may be working or non-working, but even if non-working you have to respond to any requests for information or assistance. after then notice period, you are no longer an employee and severance starts. two weeks for every year of service, minimum 8 weeks.
60 day notice (working or non-working depending on management or business need.. usually non-working) followed by severance (currently at two weeks for every year of service.. not to exceed 12 months). Good luck.👍🏼
