Duh, right? So now that they have laid off people who are in outlying areas, and implemented 3-5 days in offices with not enough work spaces, guess what is happening? You guessed it. Overtime. More people are using sick time than ever before(because zero flexibility), leading to short staffing in an environment where they already made cuts, which leads to - anyone? Anyone? Mandatory Overtime for those poor souls hanging on by their last nerve. And those who are salaried- well they just get to do that for free. Then you get asked why there is overtime. Just reply with “Stankey-induced expense.”

It is against labor laws as a level 1 Manager with no direct reports to work unpaid overtime.

Working more than 40 hours when needed is a basic responsibility of management. You are expected to work additional hours until required tasks are covered. Overtime has been underused at T and is an area for cost savings. Too many managers only work 20-30 hours a week.

I had five deaths in my family and extended family in a three month period . I got three days off for my Mom but the other four deaths I had to take vacation days for visitations and then funerals. My Director did not believe that I had five deaths that close together. I did not want to believe it but I lost five loved ones. He was not sympathetic at all.
Take all the vacation you want, no one is checking.

Yes. Contingency assignment. When you are miles from your home and family, ill trained and ill equipped with your online "training". The Stakey will notify you of your surplus.

Very surprised company still have unlimited sick time. Management Level 2 can’t discipline/write up a management Level 1s for too many days out, same for Level 3s to Level 2s etc.
What HR makes managers do ia write up “the impact the absences are having” and no one wants to / is doing that therefore after 28 paid days off, 15 caregiver days, employees are using unlimited sick time and ATT is paying full salaries and benefits for employees that are in work 6-8 months a year.
So much drama having to go into the the office and actually do work.
They like to title many positions manager with a salary, that way the company can get much more work out of you, make drastic changes to policies and benefits at will. Most of the positions that don't have direct reports, should be hourly. One can see how it has worked out for middle to lower “Management”.

- Less time on payroll after surplus 2wks vs. 2 months
- Less healthcare choices and higher rates
- Retirees Pension sold to Insurance company
- RTO or relocation with poor office accommodations
- No job guarantee when forced to move or quit
- Reapply or certify for job at new location
- No reimbursement or any assistance on moving
- Ended healthcare subsidy
- Tens of thousands jobs surplussed, rebadged or offshored
- Readjusted salaries lower for those at the top of their range
- Increased span of control
- Increased workload
- Constant reorgs
- Working in noisy office environments and trying to find space to work.

As a salaried manager for company gets 40 hours out of me and nothing more. Days of doing extra are long gone. The company doesn’t care about me I don’t care about doing extra.
Nothing should come as a surprise , RTO was designed to achieve exactly what we see. The company is winning folks, in spite of what you think, it is all in the plan.
Management overtime has always been available but underused. Dipping into this resource is good corporate strategy as costs get under control.
Hooray for the Robber Barons! as a stockholder I only care about the dividends and stock buybacks, now get to work.
Your work/life balance doesn’t mean sh*t to Stankey or Wall Street, only the bottom line, you are an expense. Quickly returning back to the days of the “Robber Barons” 1870’s before unions formed, when the elite worked employees to death without any work rules or benefits and used unethical business tactics. They wiped out quite a few people just for trying to get better working conditions, read your history.
