once upon a time AT&T was something. now working the same fake projects for years and no budget. paycheck arrives every 2 weeks so not going anywhere. watching "executives" think they are someone is a crack up

I just tell people I work in telecommunications and leave it at that. i don't need to hear their horror stories.
OOR we are the highest paid union telco tech in the area. Super proud to say who I work for.
I just tell my folks that I'm on welfare. End of story & they don't ask to borrow money.
AT&T was a great company to work for back in the day, but not the fake At&t (AKA., Southwestern Bell).
I can't even go a restaurant at lunch in a company car without getting as--ulted by the owner. They see me coming in from an AT&T car and it is on. Usually something that IHX has promised and did not deliver.
I am allowed to take lunch in between job sites in the company car. No more. Personal car, driven to a AT&T location. Start lunch , AT&T badge left in the console. A peaceful lunch will be had. Return to AT&T location.
I used to be proud to wear my AT&T badge in public, but something changed.

Because Att is a POs trash heap of a company and deserves no customers. Let them live off the t-t of the taxpayer with projects like northern hemisphere and spy on the American people who do nothing wrong.
My job is not what defines me as a person. It’s a paycheck and a means to an end. Agree with the OP, I’ve seen many folks get put on that project to nowhere road where it gets redefined or a new vendor comes in the next year only to start over. Can be a tough life. I prefer to stay busy and deliver things.

I never acknowledge working for T at holiday gatherings. Too many friends and family members have had horrible experiences with their service.
