Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Unions benefit more than just their members

The old adage rings true:
A rising tide lifts all boats.

WF and its competitors should take notice and heed.

Should have a union years ago. I bet we could have avoided the sales practice scandal!

We have so little power as individuals, but collectively, we ARE the company. Time the execs acknowledge that and treat us appropriately.

Having worked in another field, our pay, job security, working conditions and harassment by company were all improved when we voted in the union.

If WF didn't take unionization seriously, then why did they hire an exec to focus solely on stopping unionization?

If WF didn't take unionization seriously, then why did SVB and Colleen send out a communication this week desperately trying to bolster their whitewashing of abysmal branch environment?

Get real, naysayers.
WF is scared shartless.

@lty+1pIrgyK You sure put a lot of effort into trolling unions. Maybe the front-line need unions as they are the low end of the stick.

Unions are like Solar Sales People. They will spout a ton of facts and information but will never line item it out and show comparisons because then you'll see the math doesn't flesh out for anyone but the Union employee's.

Who's going to "galvanize the masses"? That's easy: Charles Sharf and Scotty Powell. 90% of the company thinks they deserve "Needs Improvement" ratings, the other 10% are the fools that think that kissing A will get them anything but a pink slip.

@cgs

You don't negotiate your own merit. You get whatever Wells decides to give you, if anything.

The floor/ceiling stuff just sounds more like what big brother Mitch told you. There's no truth to any of that.

Prefer to negotiate on my own merit..

Union-free workers are free to excel, while union-impaired workers are chained to a contract. A union contract wage is a ceiling as well as a floor and when unions rule, individual workers have no voice.

It literally is happening. A CEO wouldn't be sending out panicky emails if the threat wasn't real.

Lots of talk and no action. Lots of threats about WF better watch out. Who is going to galvanize the masses? Will each area have their own union( Tech/ In Bank/ HR etc) . WF knows that there is not a central group trying to organize and how different areas will pull together. So folks can keep thumping their chests. But this ain’t happening until everyone gets serious about it. Until then , keep dreaming . Like the Lottery, Gotta Play to Win

"All the union naysayers on this board don't want better job security. They don't want a pension. They want to keep seeing their pay and benefits erode while insisting that unions are bad."

No, all the naysayers believe it is better to seek your own success at job security, wage and benefits. That is the easier way, really, if your smart.

Pension? You really want to go with that? Like that will be there after your work life is all said and done. Look at Detroit and others.

I see that the middle aged, middle America crowd is still being loyal to their big brother Mitch.

Mitch never made it very far. Pocket full of excuses. One of those excuses is unions. It's all a union's fault that Mitch couldn't get promoted down at the plant. Therefore all unions are bad.

All the union naysayers on this board don't want better job security. They don't want a pension. They want to keep seeing their pay and benefits erode while insisting that unions are bad.

Ask a union retiree how their life would be different had they not belonged to a union.

Here's a crazy idea. Let's first see what a union contact would look like before staying loyal to big brother Mitch? 💡

lol doesn’t have legs. This is 2 or 3 people trying to pump it on here

I’m frustrated with wells as much as the next guy but joining a union would be downright embarrassing

I know 5 ppl who have quit and would talk about how toxic wells was and now 4 of them want to come back…

With all of the union solicitation in Dallas lately (I work in Auto Finance in Irving) WF needs to step up. I’m getting union reps reaching out to me on LinkedIn and other social platforms. This has legs.
