Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Can anyone confirm a rumor I heard...

Accenture closed on deal or will soon be closing on a deal to buy AT&T business unit Integrated Solutions & Consulting (IS&C) which was led by Mike Leff.

Can anyone confirm or deny. If true, what have additional details have you heard?

Accenture India for T works like this:

Either Accenture is doing the work that was once done by former (now surplused) employees

  • OR-

Accenture is doing the work (systems programming) and there’s an expensive layer of management L2-L5s claiming the work and getting paid $$$ for not doing anything — a waste of T’s company dollars and a cost to the jobs of people who really get things done.

Correct. and operations will be centralized in India. You'll have one year to RTO there or quit.

accenture outsourcing has become the new ibm outsourcing solution for AT&T.
Leggy often likes to bring up the mistakes of all the outsourcing done in the past but has become a part of it. It didn't take him long for him to be whipped down by the stank.

This is true. Unfortunately, the employees at IS&C who weren’t moved to Accenture are completely in the dark on their future. Leadership (L3 & above) are sincerely beyond pathetic and really embarrassing in their explanation of what’s happening. It’s just a matter of time until the US & Canada employee are let go. The US employees moved to Accenture have no long term future there also. It’s a complete failure in leadership.

Accenture's whole game is acquiring niche businesses, wringing the life out of the acquired employees and outsourcing the jobs to India.

I've been through it with them when the small high tech IP Consulting firm (150+ employees + 200 contractors) I worked for was acquired by Accenture in 2007.

It was absolutely miserable working for Accenture over the next several years before I left. I worked around the clock and was on the road constantly. It's a professional sweatshop.

The only upside was that the Employee Stock I purchased has significantly grown in value over the years and represent a significant portion of my retirement portfolio.

In summary, working for Accenture was like working for blood money.

Just informed I was suspended without pay because I had 8 lines last year that aren’t being used by a customer and now I’m in trouble. They called it no usage or zero usage lines, something like that.

My question is how long can I be suspended for?

3 months? 6 months?

att is going to sell off business units and make it sound innovative with their usual creative financing double speak and nothing to do with being in debt.
