Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

I can do my job within my regular hours

Is anybody else tired of the expectation that you have to work overtime just to prove you're good at your job?

"I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work." (Office Space)

But seriously, if you can't do your regular job during the allotted 40 hours during the week, you probably need to focus on time management skills. Today, people get distracted by anything - like your cell phone or your chatty neighbor in the cubicle across from you. If you've already accounted for that and time management isn't the issue, maybe it's time to start looking elsewhere. There's no justification for working overtime, unless you're being paid for it.

I probably work 3 hours a day between lunch, chatting coworkers, and playing on my phone

I stopped doing that years ago. I only work my hours and nothing beyond that as I'm in a salaried position.

I'm tired of all this above and beyond tripe when it comes to doing tasks and projects outside your scope of assigned duties.

Since forced relocation and training a mo--n to do my job, I stopped caring and just doing the bare minimum. My response " Too bad so sad"

Unless you get paid or have a reward for over time then don’t do it.

Many have an expectation that you’ll maintain that level of output forever

I never get caught up in my job the workload is not sustainable long term. Most are getting burned out and weary of client complaints.
