Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

India and Phillipines

What is going on with all these groups/teams being asked to compile a list of all their job responsibilities, and time it takes to complete each task, then presenting this information to team members overseas? I'm seeing various groups in different LOB being asked to do this. Is this a good indication these jobs are likely being sent overseas, or are they in the process of simply gathering data to determine if it makes sense to ship the jobs to India or Phillipines? Maybe this is simply a task to see what can be replaced with AI? Lots of these jobs involve lots of collaboration from different teams working similar hours with dozens of complexities and moving parts, others seem to have no communication and work independently with tasked assignments.

This is why they implemented analytics monitoring and micromanaging our proclivity. They want to stress us out so we quit or find a reason to fire us so they don't have to give us severance when they take our jobs to India. I doubt other companies make it a point to go over how many times you were idle for 1 minute or 5 minutes every week during your 1 on 1 with your supervisor. It's pure he-l.

This happened in old Business Services dept. before it was disbanded. Managers were downsized and team members forced into other teams… then given lower job titles and told we were at top of the new position’s pay scale, no growth opportunity. A great way for the company to avoid severance. Happened again in Subordinations team - change in job title, move from processors to support staff, lower pay and send as many tasks as possible to India. Break everything down into small tasks and outsource them.

@1xhf Maybe it’s about to be 70/30 India to US rather than the other way around.

More than 30% of employees are already overseas.

Yes, this happened in our group about two years before our jobs went to India.

Or they are hiring multiples of the role. They could probably hire 5 people for one of you."

My role was pretty narrow. If they need 5 people to do it, that's pretty damning.

70/30 is what they're shooting for. There are a ton of positions overseas right now. What happened to MAGA?

Once retail and mortgage is gone, and that is the plan, 95% of the bank can and will go to India.

Position relocation could very easily be part of this. But the entire bank is absolutely moving towards metrics and SLA’s because of the quiet quitters and sandbaggers that run rampant in the dump. Requesting these details is very typical right now. Nothing like being unable to even remotely figure how to engage a team, send an email asking how to engage them (not hand-grenading work into their lap) through proper channels and have it just be a black hole.

The whole bank is looking to cut costs and one way to do that is to ship jobs overseas. No group is excluded. I wouldn’t be surprised if 50% of WF employees will be offshore. Only way strategy changes is it those at the top are removed.

I've seen systems where this activity is used in succession planning, amongst other HR things.

I wouldn’t give them any correct information. You know exactly what they’re doing.

Interestingly, I left WF about a year ago. I periodically check the job listings and a role that sounds very much like the one I left keeps popping up, but always in India. It's a fairly specific senior contributor role, but they can't seem to fill it or keep it filled in India.

With respect, your POV would be logical at a company where management has built trust, respect and honor in to the culture. Charlie & Co have built mistrust, disrespect and and employees dispensabilty in to the culture.

Charlie knows that information is power, which is why he stays quiet and dances around answering questions. I would give as little detail as you think you can get away with during these exercises.

If you plan on laying me off - I’m not going to help you do it.

If a team is that far in the “process” of providing said level of info, the decision is already made, for the most part. Management is simply ironing out the details, cost benefit financials to sign off on, SLA’s & metrics.

Sorry but unfortunately true.

Difficult to ascertain any potential ulterior motives. I personally documented all my processes, procedures and associated time allocation. This has many benefits but primarily helped me sane! It helped manager understand my workload enabling prioritization streamlined goal planning and performance evaluations processes big time. However, presenting this information to team members overseas could mean many things ...could be the next step after all the RCSA work to transition the jobs over to I&P. Also could be a baseline to measure performance which could be used in several ways. Such as justification for/against offshoring. Are there specific roles you are referring to? How is the information being documented? Who is sharing this information; the individual employee (1 on 1) or is the data being shared at the executive level?

Overseas. I see many co-workers being asked to document processes and get I&P people access because they will be their “backup.” One by one… there are being let go.
