Question. If Wells Fargo are laying off remote workers outside of hubs.
Myself being one of them) then why so many job postings offering remote work ? I was told displaced due to location. And no I was not quit quiting. I gave this company my all.

Sad to say my friend, but you are the su---r corporate America hopes for. God Bless
The long game is the elimination of all domestic non-executives. "Location strategy" is a ruse to lay off a large swath of employees and trick the (temporary) survivors into continuing to produce, unaware that they are next. Literally no hub but Hudson Yards is safe. Not Chandler, not Charlotte, not any of them. It's all going to go.
@1sqn+1orW35Wf Yes, I have heard more less the same direction and timeline. I'm in CSBB.
@uyz finally some kind of a timeline. Thank you.
@coy+1orW35Wf "Quiet quitting" means giving your career/well-being your all -- not your employer. It means keeping your skills up. Also means keeping your boundaries. Also believing that there are employers out there that will respect you and your talents and not relent to name calling.
There is a “Location 2.0” strategy I heard mentioned by a CIB exec during a recent call. While layoffs are happening across the company, remote workers will generally be the first to be let go and majority of them will be gone by the end of next year. This from a direct of Jon W.
Full time (5 days/week) remote??
I must not have looked very well because I haven’t seen anything like that except maybe a very specialized area of tech in the last year.
““quiet quitting" does not mean you are not giving your company your all”
That is EXACTLY what it means you slice of Soggy Toast.
It’s several layers.
- If Wells puts Remote in the list somewhere they will get applicants that wouldn’t have otherwise applied as backups.
- Remote is absolutely possible but definitely not desired by the org. If they can’t hire on site for X months then remote can be authorized.
- If your LOB is aligned to Tempe as an example, but you’re no closer than Taos, NM it’s cheaper and easier to lay you off then attempt to back fill near Tempe. And if they end up backfilling with a Remote again I’d hazard a wild guess that there are not ones of caveats and exclusions so that remote person can be cut at any time with no severance or benefits for any reason.
If the slot is backfilled with a remote there is no stability for that individual. The overall strategy stays the same.
Many don’t see the long game in this whole RTO and Location Strategy. Just see it all as a waste of time, waste of money and effort. Stupid, backwards, etc etc. Every single one of those statements here are made in a vacuum and are full of conjecture.
"quiet quitting" does not mean you are not giving your company your all. I know of many "quiet quitters" who give their all. But they realize their days are numbered. That no matter how much they give they don't get. They actively weigh what to give. When the command and control facilitators start getting offshored they know they will be cut. They are just smart enough to see and prepare for their fate.
I haven't seen a remote job posting for WF in at least 6 months. Where are you seeing these???
Stop wondering, ask HR
