if i get laid off after everything i had gone thru and was pit thru at WF, i most certainly will be removing myself from this existence to finally rest for eternity. I was verbally amd psychologically abused for 8 years by a nonwhite racist bad actor of a manager, i worked long hours and was forced to do overnight support, was humiliated daily by jealous peers, and was never compensated for anything. Im literally trying to put my best smile for everyone and trying to do the right thing everyday even when Wells Fargo does the wrong thing by not listening or caring about rheir employees pain. If worked in any other bank, which i have, they wpuld have some empathy and try to do right by those who cared enough to keep the bank growing and running. People scoffed at Goldman for being cold, but at least they are fair amd show their employees they will do right by them in compensation at the very least. Lets see if the stagecoach that carried its pioneers and protected them as they ventured into new lands can come thru for its people once again or if its nothing more than a moving grave on wheels pulled by the stallions of upper management.

There are always layoffs in September, but usually a bit more in October. Wishing everyone good luck.

It can be "programmatic" without the execs constantly lying and doing things that negatively impact company performance, right? I don't expect the execs to be my buddies. Most are NYC a&&holes I wouldn't want to be buddies with. What I DO expect is integrity, leadership, and sane business decisions and I'm getting none of the 3. Stock price confirms that their decisions have garbage results and there is absolutely no thoughts of pivoting from their rigid ideology. This is a failed executive team and it has nothing to do misguided notions of them being 'nice' or working here being 'like a family'.

There are a lot of managers in Treasury Services that need to be let go. Heather and George are two!

@1jdv+1opB0Zel who is the "they" you are referring to? i've been here over 10 yrs and never once heard someone refer to WF as "family".

if you have a manager or managers doing that they're just cr-ppy managers.

Way too many people tie up who they are with who they work for. You are more than that and don't ever forget that.

If work is not a personal relationship, then why do they keep saying we’re a family and attempt to make it personal?

Wells is an employer, not a personal relationship so no correlation to an abusive spouse should be drawn. This is the entire fallacy in all of those who complain about how much they’ve given only to be let go. YOU/WE made it a personal relationship when it was always programmatic from the get go.

From what I’ve seen in my reasonably short tenure here is that many can’t leave if they wanted too. Too comfortable and have lost skills because of how deprecated we are.

"How do Wells make people live this way? Do they put a g-n to their head and force them to stay?"

Imagine if your spouse said that after abusing you and cheating on you. "How am I the one hurting you? Am I holding a *** to your head and forcing you to stay?" Meanwhile you have built a life with this person, have deep connections with them, and will suffer emotional and financial loss both as they continue to abuse you and in the process of trying to leave.

WF is an abusive spouse. Just because you can leave doesn't excuse their abuse. The person I quoted is an abusive person and justifies being abusive because they claim that the objects of their abuse could just leave if they didn't like it.

Sorry but abuse is abuse. You can't make abuse right by saying the people you abuse could just leave if they wanted to. All abuse is wrong, period.

A lot of the folks being laid off have been with the bank for 5-20 years... we've worked our way up into higher pay grades due to our deep proprietary knowledge of the bank's systems and processes... we've spent years building relationships and our reputations. Some folks don't have a degree and only have WF on their resumes. Some folks planned to be with WF for their entire careers, and they may be older (harder to learn completely new systems). Some folks haven't gone through an external interview process in decades. Some people have families relying on their health insurance, paychecks, and benefits, plus mortgage...

So yeah, the prospect of starting over with a new company is a little daunting. Depending on where you live, there might not be many or any similar positions available at other companies, and those positions could be outsourced, too. Even little things like all of the PTO you've built up... starting over is tough.

Like many who are being laid off, I'm hoping that something better awaits me, but there are no guarantees.

The person being critical of the fear in this thread may have a job that's easily transferable, like a manager position, compliance officer, etc. Or they may live in an area that has lots of white-collar job opportunities. Fear of the unknown is pretty normal, dude. And not everyone has a resume that puts them in great, commanding spot for job searching.

I don't see much value in proactively looking for a job if you haven't been laid off. Layoff packages can be sweet. I'm getting a stay-on bonus for the next six months, annual bonus, then 60-day non-working paid period, and then severance for 7 years of service. I can't wait to have a break and reevaluate my direction...

@bkf+1opB0Zel. Again. Who forces you stay and constantly worry? Use that energy to find another job. Take control of your life. Try to solve your problem. Do not rely on anyone nor anything to make you happy. If you do then you will always be fearful
