Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Remote working not gonna last

I sit near a manager in an open air environment. He is continually telling employees who had remote working contracts prior to Covid that those contracts will no longer be honored. If you are remote working with Wells Fargo, I will probably come to an end soon.

Your agreement isn't worth the paper it is printed on. The agreement basically says that Wells can change the terms of the agreement at any time. As someone who does not live near a core location and knew that years and years ago when I started telecommuting, it was always understood that I would carry the risk. It hasn't come to it (yet) but I suspect my career will end once my group gets serious about all of us that are not in core location hubs.

"Interesting that government workers in San Francisco have been given permission to work from home because it is unsafe for them to commute into the city."

Anybody who actually knows anything about SF knows that where WF offices are is nowhere near where that infamous government office building is. That part of the city has always been an open dr-g market - even before Covid.

No, but they were agreements. How many agreements have I signed that I can just shred at any time of my choosing and yet continue employment? Pretty much zero. And yet the morally bankrupt POS running this place can. F them.

Interesting that government workers in San Francisco have been given permission to work from home because it is unsafe for them to commute into the city.

I guess those that work for the tax payer have privileges ..... while the tax payer toils in filth and unsafe to property and self conditions.

Thanks WF and the 80 million that voted for this.

Ya, they weren't contracts. They were Telecommuting agreements.
Those agreements were rescinded a long time ago. This is old news.

Happened to me earlier this year. Was directed to a page on team works where I had to request temp wfh until it was canceled on Aug 1. Boss said remote workers will face deep cuts by end of 2024. Most gone if won’t RTO.

FRTO and FHY. WFH will win the Great RTO War in the end. It's a certainty, the only question is when or if WF will wake up to the reality before the collapse of the business.

We need to stop wasting time and money and talent on this BS.

You say that people at WF can only go to BofA or JPM, but plenty of us have skillsets that transfer into totally different industries. Every big bank is doing layoffs. Citi and Wells are just doing the deepest layoffs.

The best bet is to take your skills to transfer into a whole different industry because banking as we know it will probably be like working for a candlemaker in the 1920's.

Toxic culture for a better culture. There is a whole world out there outside of the Big Banks. Your skills will transfer over, or sharpen them so they do.

That happened to me, which is why I do the bare minimum and check boxes.
My quality of life/work balance has diminished, so will my work as a result. I stopped working hard for this company 2 years ago. It wasn’t worth it, shame on me for thinking otherwise.

Tides are turning. Today WF will say 3 days a week then it will be 4 then 5 . You can leave but as a new employee at BofA or JPM or another company, they will most likely say you have to be in the office 3 days a week. So careful what you are reading for. Is it the toxic culture for a better culture or is it RTO for a different RTO?

Greedy executives!

I’m not in the (troll) camp of “stop ur whining, get back to work, if u don’t like it - quit!…”

But - I am in the camp of: Take your talents and skills and institutional knowledge to another company where you will be appreciated and respected. Let Wells Fargo drown in their own incompetence and greed. Then enjoy helping the other company succeed, while recruiting talent and business and assets away from Wells Fargo.

"5 days RTO"

In most markets that's not even remotely possible due to seating.

That's how they increase attrition, 5 days RTO. Goldman requires it already, Wells will eventually.
