Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Feel like I got a lifeboat off the Titanic

I am tired. Glad to be off this merry go round, sinking ship, whatever you want to call it. Packed up equipment and ready for a new beginning. This layoff has destroyed my summer and made me miserable for weeks. Best wishes and prayers for all!

Call/text your manager. They will put a ticket in and you will get an email. That's what I did.

For those that remain the beatings will continue until morale improves. Better get your a-s to the office 3 days a week. They'll be tracking badges. Remember, it's for our own good. This will totally turn things around.

Mine came to my work email. I sent it all back. Nothing that I want/need to keep.

You can get the shipping stuff from a UPS store. Take a picture of the receipt on the UPS guy’s electronic device. Your severance will be terminated if there is any question about return of property.

Do you understand why the Titanic went down?

I wasn’t impacted, but as days go by, I’m starting to wish I was. The total incompetence of how this whole situation was handled is unbelievable. And I say that as someone who was previously impacted by a separate mass layoff with this same company several years ago.

I get it, restructuring is a natural part of business when you work corporately for such a large business. Layoffs are always a risk. I knew it then and I know it now. But this has been an absolute unorganized sh-t show and disappointing for a company that up until a few weeks ago I held in relatively high regard.

I just found out 4 hours ago who I’m going to be reporting to as of Friday. And was then sent an email with the contact information of four individuals who were impacted in which I need to reach out to tomorrow to get a download from as I will be taking over portions of their workstreams. One of them has their OOO up and will not be coming back.

My executive director who was impacted had been fighting to get me a grade change or at least a pay increase with all of the other work I’ve absorbed and additional responsibilities I’ve assumed throughout the course of the hiring freeze. I had my last skip level with her this morning and she legit apologized to me with tears in her eyes saying that she tried and that she knows there’s zero chance of me being able to keep up with the mountain of additional work I apparently just inherited and said she’d keep me in mind when she lands a role with a new company. She did send an email to my new ED with me on BCC explaining how much I’ve taken on and how she’s been fighting for me and how great I am but I doubt anything will result from it.

Long story short, I’ve updated my LinkedIn to show that I’m looking for work and I don’t even care who at CVS sees. I’m done. The moment I have another offer locked down I’m handing in my laptop and they’re gonna have to figure the rest out.

Without giving away too many details because my job scope is very unique, if I were to quit right now, there is nobody else with the data or knowledge that I have… literally not one soul. I’d guesstimate it would cost them $500k a month before they would be able to figure it out on their own.
