I really want to leave WF for greener pastures but where would this be? Not sure I want to remain in the financal industry but would like feedback as to what companies others are interested in. I would love to hear from anyone who has left for another company or those currently applying outside of WF. Thank you!

Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of available jobs at the moment in banking/credit services. Plus; with the massive amount of recent displacements you may have 1,000 people applying for the same job. Also; with it entering the Fall of the year many companies have completed their forecasts for growth & have implemented hiring freezes unless there is a critical need for a specific technical role/position. Not a good time to be looking for work in banking/credit services. I have 20 yrs in banking but I’m seriously considering a career change (maybe go into education where there is a need & shortage….would probably take 50% income haircut….but need some stable & right now banking is not stable with downsizing & offshoring).
A friend of mine at Wells told me about this post and suggested I respond with my experience.
I left for Truist and I believe there is a freeze but they are still replacing natural attrition so you may see roles appear.
As with any bank it all depends about what your direct team is like. I left about 18 months ago and it's been amazing, the people I work with and for are intelligent and know what they are doing but I can understand that someone in a different area could have a vastly different experience.
For me Wells management was akin to an abusive relationship, constant firedrills to provide information to someone who then needed coaching on how to present up the chain, only for it to wait 3 weeks to a month before ever being looked at. Then rise and repeat, Unfortunately my story is not unique in that matter.
My advice is to get out if unhappy (or wait if expecting a significant severance soon).
I recommend looking at how your skills and knowledge can transfer to a different type of company or industry.
Not applying anywhere. Just enjoying the wonderful severance pay! Keep it coming.
Left the stagecoach 5 months ago for truist. 20% salary increase but 110% more stress and headache. Culture is even worse than Wells, the tech is outdated, and many people are not motivated to improve anything. Same sh*t, different bank.
Is there anyone be able to find a HB1 job in India or China?
No they protect their workers from the likes of us.
I left for a smaller regional bank, a 28% increase in pay, and better PTO. I've already referred two other ex-WF employees for jobs and both received 20%+ pay increases and are fully remote. It was worth it to look around.
Jumped to an investment house. It took a couple of years to find the role, but I got a modest pay hike, much better benefits and much brighter colleagues. There are some good people at Wells, but at that scale it's mostly quantity over quality.

I left for a non profit with a 50% haircut but oh so wonderful people. After 14 months I am now a regional operations leader with about 80% of what I made at WF but again, the work and the people are so great I don't mind. I go to my "office" which involves travelling all around NC/SC area. What I read on here is sad but what I experienced in the last 2 of my 27 years at WF.
Truist (fka BB&T / Sun Trust) doesn't have a good history. One of my friends used to work there and didn't like the toxic environment. He moved to a different company later and much happier now. Make sure to do the research before you jump in to a new company.
I heard SVB and First Republic banks are hiring.
I'm now with a competitor, but there's a hiring freeze.

That is so strange! I saw a LinkedIn post from a Truist recruiter just yesterday encouraging Wells expats to check them out. On a whim I checked out their postings, and many do exist.

I am a senior lead and have no clue. I make too much to leave for an equivalent job at some other bank who pays my salary at senior director levels. I have tried everywhere but apparently my years of experience in strategic leadership isn’t good enough

Depends on your title, if in IT you can apply almost anywhere.
I’m in the same boat. Just go to LinkedIn to see where your former colleagues are now. I’m just looking for job openings that look interesting. Not much appetite to stay in banking, but that might be the only opportunity to move. Ideally I would like to work for a reputable company with clearly defined responsibilities. Best of luck to you. I went to a large credit union, so stayed in financial services. Still follow WF, as I have a lot of friends there. Most of my time at WF (8 years) was ok, but RTO was the end for me. I am remote now, salary is a little less but benefits better not to mention culture and integrity.
OP...you really need to do your own research......
The 2 companies I went, are h1-b training farms. If I know student loan providers sell out American workers for h1-b, we are truly doomed.
They should just give me their h1-b visas instead, since they are entirely focused in extracting knowledge from me.
