Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Layoff meeting questions

Who actually does the layoff meetings -is it HR or your manager or your manager's manager? What if your entire group including your manager gets laidoff at same time? Also what time of the day is this meeting?

How does it work if your manager knows he or she is going to be laid off as well?

Managers know typically 2-3 months in advance of displacements and they have to attend at least 1 HR session on how the process works. As some have said, HR tells the manager the date and they generally have until 2pm to notify you. HR has never sat in on the actual displacement call. Displacements are usually on a Tuesday after a pay week. In my case I knew in advance and my team knew in advance but we were jerked around for about 6 months with an ever changing date and on top of that given no work. Ended up I as the manager had to deliver displacement notices to my own team, submit the equipment return requests, and then call my manager to do my own displacement. That got screwed up and I didnt get my package for 3 more days.

I was pinged by my manager, skype call pretty much at the same time. It took about 10 minutes max for him to can me. Had me go into workday to cancel any pto I had, which he had no idea how to do. DUH. At that same time, I was pinging my entire group via teams' group chat stating I had just been canned. Kind of funny, cause they were all freaking out, plus the fact that I could carry on with that group for two hours. Very stupid in my mind. Badge access worked until God only knows how long. I work by myself, mgr in dif state, no co-workers in building. So, I walked around, grabbed all sorts of stuff. Printed stuff, badge access still worked 3 hours later. lol.

I was remote due to accommodation. Was in HR. Was provided a "2-week pre-notice end of July for 08/08" No meeting was scheduled for 08/08, so I proactively scheduled the meeting for first thing in the morning on 08/08 with my manager. I knew the drill so it was easier for me to just schedule the meeting, facilitate the dismissal myself, go through the drill, and get out and on my way.

They were more concerned with getting their laptop back, saying how great LHH is, and getting you out the door.

Never any option provided to me to relocate even though I'm right near a secondary hub and would/was willing. I asked to relocate, accommodation or not, to the secondary hub that is near me and I wasn't even provided the option.

This was/is a 100% cost-cutting measure. And oh by the way, so far, LHH services and Wells Fargo displacement support services, what a joke. You're better off going at the job search on your own or with a trusted known advisor in your personal support groups.

We were corralled into a confidential call by Greg Baker who read off a script. Very cold. No questions. It was noon. Said our access would be cut off at 2. It was cut off a 1. So much for my 30 plus years of loyalty. We we thrown out like trash. So when you see all those commercials how Wells Fargo cares about their customers please throw up!

At least I think HR would try to show some compassion....

I tried to ask for more severance to my manager in my meeting. He only cares about getting my work files. Everything else is stone cold no.

Where is Karma, I don't see it.
I will bet that he sent my work offshore or H1B later.

I got the Teams IM asking if I had time to chat... 8/8/23 @ 8am
It was just me--as the majority of my team was cut in March.

Mgr. reads from a script, and you lose access in less than 2hrs.
Update Workday with personal email as you will receive displacement packet and future communications and meeting invites to help you thru.

Heard from more than a few mortgage folks that were let go about their scenario

Confidential meeting sent ~ 1130/12 pm eastern. Pre-recorded phone call with head of UW/Processing/Closing. Lasted ~ 5 minutes and said their access will be turned off in about 90 minutes.

No questions taken. Just a click.

Does it really matter. The decision is final and there is nothing for you to do, but to accept the decision. Fuuuck Them! Fuuuuck India.

I was laid off in February. I received a meeting invite "Touch Base" @10:40 for 11 AM meeting. The call was with my manager only. Never spoke to any gutless HR personnel. Had to take care of any loose ends, expense reports, rather quickly. Shut out of email by 1PM. Didn't have an opportunity to say good byes or let colleagues know, I guess they just saw the Z's!

I survived!!

HR sends out a couple meetings and managers must attend one.

Also, one other question. If HR does the meeting, does the meeting request come from HR or from your manager and HR attends?
