Severance pay

Does anyone know how long it takes to receive severance pay? Last day of employment was 9/8.

Took me about 4 weeks to get it, it will be payd out to what you had your normal checks (direct deposit/paper check).

I am in mobility. I am more valuable that the rest of you guys. I won't be laid off. Sorry you are in landline.

It sure sounds like someone is desperate to get their grubby little hands on their severance! How can anyone be so desperate? Stankey reminds everyone weekly that no one is safe. If you are still employed, start saving today, you should have 6 months salary tucked away if laid-off. Quit living for the day, pay down credit cards, prepare for the inevitable!

If you have a good relationship with your manager, he will get it done quickly and you should see you money within a week. If you have a poor relationship with your manager, its going to take much longer."

A manager does not control the timing of the severance check. This is between HR and payroll.

**Scary there are employees out there that think they are invincible, don't even bother to prepare themselves for an impending layoff! **

Where in the original post did the poster indicate they aren't prepared or can not get by on their own? The severance is a decent chunk of change that everyone, who's entitled to it, wants to make sure they get. 6 months salary, you say? In today's economy I'd recommend at least 12, but regardless, getting a severance means you don't drain your emergency fund, it's a big deal.

Scary there are employees out there that think they are invincible, don't even bother to prepare themselves for an impending layoff! How many times does Stankey have to tell you "no one is safe"? Save up 6 months salary, if you happen to qualify for severance, so much the better. Nobody prepares for the future anymore. Sad but true!

Took 32 days for me. I was actually kind of funny. I decided to call Payroll and ask about it, and as I was talking to them, they say "it shows it was deposited today", so I look in my bank account and sure enough, it was in there.

Sidenote. What's up with you trolley friends? You talk sh... in RTO related threads, sure, whatever, sometimes it's even kind of funny, but this is a legitimate question, and in fact only the people like you, who surely post this from your moms' basements, are the ones who wouldn't understand how important this topic is for so many of us. I get it, trolls gonna troll, but at some point even you should have at least some sense to figure out when it makes sense or when you just show everyone just what kind of miserable l0sers you actually are.

I believe I got mine within 45 days of leaving. I think it was a live check meaning it came in the mail. Don’t be shocked at the taxes taken out. It is the standard way to do it. You will get the excess taken out (if it is) next year when you do your taxes.

As per policy, it may take up to 45 days. However, some of my friends who have been laid off say they have gotten theirs in about 30 days.
Count on 45 days to be on the safe side.

On various forums, what I usually see people saying is 30-45 days.
