Hopefully you are looking for another job, but if you want or need to stay - join the Union.
I can’t think of another way to say this: Charlie is Fu----g you over in every way possible: boiling the frog, as they say. Can’t you feel the momentum building against you? I sure can.
What are your other choices?
- Move up and out. I hope you are pursuing that right now.
- Continue to negotiate on your own - how is that working for you? If it is - do nothing. If you feel like you’re losing the battle - join the Union.
- If you are nervous about there being some kind of negative blowback on you or employees as a whole. Guess what? He is already Fu----g you over, so you can either wait for his next move against you or you can fight back.
Seriously, what more proof do you need that Charlie is not in your corner?
Here’s the deal. It would be major egg on Charlie’s face for the Union effort to grow exponentially and for social media to light up and report consistently on how he is treating employees as well as his aggressive offshoring of American jobs. LET’S MAKE HIS ACTIVITIES PUBLIC.
The UAW has already won major concessions that their multimillion $ executives would not have given without the workers’ collective power as a unified group. I saw the other day where UPS drivers are going to be earning $170K (total pay package) in the next 5 years. I’ll take that.
4 more points:
- My family members plus a few friends have all made very good livings (including better health insurance than Wells) at their Union jobs and they are retiring with their 401K + their pension + company stock that has moved UP.
- The $30 Billion Company Stock Buyback is a giant middle finger from Charlie to the employees. If you are not enraged by that alone - I can’t imagine what it will take to wake you up.
- You might be happy with your salary. You are lucky. But why not support those at Wells who are not. Honesty, I can’t believe we have employees at this bank making $20/hour or less.
- Charlie does NOT want to have to deal with the union. That tells me everything I need to know.
Another OP listed many of Charlie’s negative moves against employees today, and there are more listed in the comments. Take a look at that and then ask yourself if staying quiet and keeping your head down is working for you, especially knowing that there is a reasonable chance that he might be coming after your job next.
