Sign up for LHH. They were helpful with resume, advice, etc. A friend ended up with a ‘bad’ LHH consultant, but was able to ask to be paired with a different one. It’s nice to have someone as a sounding block who really knows what they are doing and can make recommendations.

To @1hli+1oGxEUfp, how do you get 48 months of severance? My understanding is it’s 12 months max at WF. Were you Laid off from a different company? Or did you mean 48 weeks?

Agree with comment about getting laid off and being better off after. I was laid off 3 times in my career and was always better off. My fourth one was yesterday. Thrilled to no end. The 48 months of severance will bridge me to 65 and Medicare. Not going to collect unemployment as I don't even want to pretend looking for a job. Sad thing is WF wasted two years of my salary and benefits. I would have taken an exit package two years ago and did so little the past two years to have not been worth the money.

Wait we get a 60 day notice people PLUS severance (8 week minimum)? So in total 16 weeks of pay minimum?

Hey OP, same here. I could have wrote the same post. Feeling a little all over the place but overall grateful to have been here and anxious to see what comes next. I really hope the best comes for all of us that have been given this news.

Take a day or 2 for yourself to process and chill, then hit the ground running with LinkedIn jobs and as many local company job boards as you can.

Put your start date for right after your 60 days and be honest on interviews about being displaced and know you'll be ok. Do NOT get discouraged if you run into a rash of Dear John letters, just keep going a few hours a day and make sure you take time for yourself along the way to deflate. Go to a coffee shop or something a few times a week.

I was just laid off recently and now have something waiting for me, just after my 60-day notice period is up. :) Everything happens for a reason. Hope this helps!

COO is a typical division to perform this type of layoff. I have yet to see the right people get terminated in my COO business line however, including remote. Until I see some emails and zz's I am not believing anything.

COO in Charlotte. Quite a few of us after 5 years or so.

Best advice is to tell everyone and get the word out that you were laid off and looking. That worked for me and it helped me get a new job and meet people experiencing being downsized like my next door neighbor.

What department and location were you?

OP, can you share your general group and location? Was a large group affected? Lots of folks watching these threads for details since layoffs aren't announced internally.

Your attitude is great - can’t say I would be so gracious, but that personality trait will open many doors for you. It sounds like a big mistake that Wells Fargo is laying you off. I hope you go to a competitor and flourish 😉.

Check into your state's unemployment laws. Some states will allow you to collect unemployment while on severance. There's no shame in claiming that benefit.

First and foremost, I'm sorry this happened, but it sounds like you're already ahead of the eight ball which is good. LinkedIn is a good start to change your banner to OpenToWork. If your resume isn't getting it done, change it as soon as possible. Good luck to you!
