Whoever runs wave and their architect should be fired. True disgrace. We’ve had more outages using “modern cloud tech” than we did running 250k remote employees off old school vpn concentrators in internal aged data centers. These people running wave should be ashamed of themselves

Is this outage in any way the result of layoffs? I know we've lost many good people due to Charlie's aggressive cuts, but were any of them supporting WAVE?

I looked for a guy that helped me when I first migrated and saw a zz by his name so there's at least one person impacted by this. Don't know if others on that team supported this specifically, but when I drilled down into the org I saw 4/5 more with zz by their names too.

I secretly laugh whenever there is a WF system snafu during a layoff week.

Karma.

Professionals admit when they've made a mistake. DUMP VDI!

Of course, professionals would never have implemented it in the first place.

What are the odds of that many pieces of hardware going down at the same time, for the same duration?

LMFAO.

Up close and too personal w/ the way WF designs and deploys end user computing resources to users.

What is the way, you ask?

Absolute slop, similar to throwing a hail mary pass to one receiver against 4 defenders.

20+ years of wondering why vendor best practices, user experience, etc are missing from the conversation.

If I say I care about "x", people turn away and plow forward and implement.

Just people doing tasks and hoping the end result is just enough to keep things crawling along.

Though, in my next job interview, I'd most likely spin it like this:

"Effectively and successfully managed industry leading scaleable infrastructure in a challenging enterprise class environment w/ 200k+ users, 1k+ apps, 10k+ servers, 500k+ virtual sessions"

VDI works great fo certain user types, it's way too laggy for others.

Also, I think they should have beefed up high end instances and provisioned high end users with them - that'd save some greef.

Kind of ironic that virtual desktop is a single point of failure when it's supposed to be cloud, which shouldn't have a single point of failure.

Heard from a colleague that WAVE/VDI is out across the company. For whatever reason I've been lucky enough not to get migrated to that trash yet. The whole idea is d-mb. I get VDI for call center, etc. But for tech people? What id--t thought that was a good idea?

VDI is effing garbage! The leaders choosing our new tools need to be replaced. This is ridiculous.

Here's the workaround: Check your email for an alternate link to get into your email. Oh wait, I can't get into my email to get the alternate link. DUH!!!!!

This company’s systems are consistently unreliable. This should have been resolved years ago. Instead however, they keep frankensteining existing systems which makes issues more and more difficult to resolve.

Yep and it is part of my daily routine to be here:

  1. Stare at my laptop w/ lid closed (sort of space out for a while)
  2. Wait for call from manager to indicate I'm laid off
  3. If no call, check this site and continue on in misery

Nothing like the weekly mental torture of waiting to get the axe. Sigh.
