Companies are realizing that if you can work remotely, your job can be done by someone offshore for 1/4 the cost.
Say it louder for the people in the back. This is exactly it.

Sorry but from what I’ve seen of the current offshore folks, no they can’t do your job. It only works because WFC is overstaffed in the US and can fix the issues. But if we really had to rely on the offshore teams for quality there would be non stop problems.
I'd been saying this for a while, now. OP is correct.
who cares lol...push me out, I encourage it. go find some sloppy a-s foreign employee who gives even less of af than I do who is ONLY in it for the money, not the company. this will FORCE me to finally start my own US based company with no backstabbing leadership who secretly wants to replace me with a foreigner then a robot, eventually. girl bye. foh...
Fact: Offshoring was in-play long before Covid and WFH. Charlie wouldn’t be offshoring/desperately slashing costs any less if we were all still obediently in the office.
I believe the OPPOSITE, of whatever those who use scare-tactics, are trying to manipulate me in to believing to serve THEIR purposes.
OP - don’t go outside with a wet head, or you’ll catch a cold. I’m saying it louder for you.
There aren't a lot of mandarin speakers in Mali. But maybe.
Replacing one WFH american with multiple people in a building overseas probably isn't saving any money. But of course this isn't about saving money, so the execs don't care. The ugly truth is that senior executives from overseas would be a LOT cheaper than ones based on NYC. None of what's happening has anything to do with cutting costs. Shart is here to destroy the company and exterminate all domestic workers.
Can’t wait to read this thread again next week, and the week after, and the week after that. Great individual and insightful thoughts!
As soon as they force the customers into hubs, the sooner they can force my team into a hub. This exec team is stupid enough to try, so you're probably not wrong.
The opportunity cost is extreme, it just takes time for it to be realized by the orgs that follow this path. End of the day it is what it is, we can be let go for RTO, Location or just for fun.
Anyone working in a building for no reason can be outsourced and save even more sooo, you're ####ed to OP. Keep thinking your bootlicking will save you.
Yes, there's someone in Timbuktu who can do my job and can swear in Mandarin.
same for all the people who say "but no one on my team is in my office" they'll just make you move to that office or quit
