The topic of RTO is pretty much beaten to death at this point but I wanted to confirm. I have seen the in office reporting dashboard. Included are a rolling 4 week average of days in, discrepancies between mac and reporting address, and now alerts if 50% or more of your badge in locations are not at your assigned address. I did not see a time in vs. time out log, but that may just be because it wasn't presented.
Do with that info what you want.

The same company that says we need to be efficient and save money is blowing a lot of cash of small cr-p desktop terminals for employees that already have laptops. Meanwhile telling us we can 'work from anywhere, with any device!" as if that had any value in a RTO environment. The 'good ideas' from these hacks never end. No consistency, sanity, or efficiency coming from the top right now. We need to get rid of offices and get rid of end user hardware as well. Bring your own tech and WFH would save this company billions and billions of dollars.
They are rolling out laptop workstations that we would log into.
Convenient that we don't need to carry in our laptops, but I sense this is how they will be tracking where and how long we're working.
If you go in 3 days per week as required, does it count?
Worked on a project to help this reporting. The data is in bad shape. CPG is full of id--ts who can't normalize data so many locations are represented by overlapping database entries. Trying to figure out "what building a network is in" is difficult to impossible because a network is not a physical construct. The original network was not designed with locations mapping to network segments in mind. IP ranges can have little or nothing to do with physical locations.
Some places it's easy to tell where you are by your ip, but not enough to automate reporting. They can pretty much just tell VPN or not VPN unless they want to go to the trouble to look you up manually and figure it out (not scalable for mass surveillance).
But it's okay for you. Just come to beautiful buildings (sic).
RTO makes offshoring MORE likely, not less. Housing people costs this company many many billions of dollars. Excessive costs are the motivation for offshoring. Americans working from home with their own tech isn't much more expensive than foreign workers in buildings with company supplied tech.
Why can't they put this dashboard for everyone to see? Shame on the top management. Be transparent so that you can win trust of the employees.
If you are using this for performance, then it should be available for employees to monitor and adjust their behavior.
Putin and charlie are brothers i think.
do they check if your machine is login to the office wifi? or they only check badge in?
Does half day PTO count as one day in office?
Anyone know if they can track your location?? someone told me they got notification that on your hybrid days you must be working from your home office located in the same city as your assigned office. I.E. if your assigned office is CIC on your days not in office you can’t work from your parents house in Raleigh
Love how all the Americans are whining about coming into work and whining about offshoring at the same damn time. Go to work and be grateful.
@rrn+1oA4khde checking out location through the day? that sounds nuts if true
"If you take a half day of PTO and badge in on that same day, does that count as 2 days in the office that week, as far as reporting?"
no, it's one day
I just go in 3 days a week, log into work, go to bathroom for a quick waank, and then go home. Get 100% credit.
This is just another attrition strategy and unfortunately it’s just going to drive out the more talented team members as opposed to the deadwood’s.
I can’t believe what I’m reading, what kind of militant BS is this?!?
PTO counts as in-office- so if you take a week of PTO, does that mean you only have to come in one day the following week to be at the 3 day average? Or do those extra two days of PTO not carry over in the weekly average?
Someone told me that PTO in excess of 3 days per week cannot be applied toward other weeks but I’m not sure what to believe.
My manager shared the reporting to our team - it can be looked at in different increments she sets - 1, 4, 8, 13.
If you take a half day of PTO and badge in on that same day, does that count as 2 days in the office that week, as far as reporting?
13 week rolling average for actionable offense, ie PIP to Termination. 4 week average for verbal warning, doesn’t improve over next four weeks then written, still an issue on 13 week report you get pip and/or termination
They do not check time. In my LOB, they do a 13 week rolling average. They do not check location as long as it's Wells. They do not show each day. Simply, total days, PTO, avg per week. That's it.
Seeing this word dashboard has triggered my PTSD
Local Government wants there cities filled and thriving…
Also commercial RE is on a lot banks books.
so. go in 3 days a week, stay for atleast an hour or two, and should be good to go atleast for now, time of day doesn't particularily matter.
seems to be what I have heard and witnessed.
that target, @rrn, 99% sure is the 911 location app for jabber.
before any trolls, no way am I paying for lunch, or sitting in rush hour.
@jil cut them a break, it was business school, not a thinking subject.
They need to track what actually matters. You know, your work product. Nothing else will be reliable or of any use. Goody, a badge was swiped. Dude could have spent 4 hours taking a nap in a mother's room, an hour in the restroom choking it and doing lines, and an hour shooting the breeze with the milfs in nearby cubes that are only mildly interested. None of that brings value. Work product does. It's shockingly ignorant how this executive team behaves and what they think matters.
@ynu, they are checking your location periodically throughout the day. There are certain times of the day when they're checking every 10 minutes or so. Just watch for the target in your system tray. I believe there's a pattern. But I haven't spent enough time tracking it to say for sure.
They could also likely pull logs on log in / log off times fairly easily. Badge in, log in and then log out - would be easy enough to get. Of course that doesn't factor in time spent not logged in.
As you mentioned, the easiest would be to require people to badge out. What a mess those reports must be. We have to badge in every time we come back from using the restroom. If we had to badge in an out I guess they'd just choose the first badge in and last badge out. But that method still leaves room for ways around the system.
4 week avg, 1 hour logged into Wi-Fi counts
I saw a screen share of it as well. But I thought my leader said it was a rolling 13 week average or something like that.
Wells has much bigger problems than treating adults like Toddlers!! They should get another seven figures fine for this.
Don't forget that the report also allows managers to see which days you were in. funny how it took them nearly two years to get this basic report.
time in office would be a little more difficult given not every office requires you to also badge out. they could probably calculate a rough proxy based LAN vs VPN usasge but that is probably stretching it. I bet in the next few years all building will require you to badge out is some way shape or form.
