Just curious if anyone who got laid off was told they are eligible for rehire or not.

I've been laid off more than twice at cvs and came back during the severance period every time, lots of people have done the same. Never burn a bridge unless you are very certain you'll never want to be on the bridge again. Follow the rules, play nice in the sandbox, and collect your cash. This company does big layoffs, They do them at least yearly and often twice a year. Once you realize that it's less awful.
Yes, you are eligible for rehire. Instruction specify how many weeks you have to keep all benefits intact, including health insurance.
"Are you the type to go crawling back to your abusive spouse after leaving them?"
If both the s-x and the cooking are good enough.. hahaha!
One of my former supervisors at Omnicare was let go, then returned months later, so it's possible. But I think they avoid it in most cases. Simply put, if they rehire someone, and then lay them off again, maybe they are worried about lawsuits. One of our Omnicare teammates was let go, then they posted her job opening 6 months later. She was a good enough worker to take back, but they hired someone else.
On topic of Omnicare, we have heard nothing about any cuts. But with a sale looming, or not looming, trouble is still coming soon, IMO.
Why would you want to?
As someone not laid off, I'm jumping ship
this has been the most incompetent handling of a mass layoff I've ever experienced
Are you the type to go crawling back to your abusive spouse after leaving them?
Why would you want to go back to a place that clearly doesn't want you??
Assuming no terms of the sverwnde agreement are violated and you were always in good standing, yes you’re almost always eligible for rehire. If you are rehired within 1 year of an involuntary termination, you also keep all your seniority/original service date and therefore will be allocated your myTime amount as if you hadn’t left.
Typically they will tell you that you can apply for another position, but if you are offered and turn down you lose severance. So you ride severance out and if you come back within 6 months I believe benefits restored (check with HR). Happened to me several years ago.
Bigger question is why would you want to once this happens?
In general if you were let go through no fault of your own, you are eligible for rehire but...why would you want to anyway?
