Larry overpaid for aetna and let's face it, Karen became ceo not because of her track record. Cvs is a dying company and that's why the stock is down year after year. Just a matter of time before the debt strangles cvs to death.
We didn’t want CVS to buy us. It all went downhill for us and now we are in this situation too, bi--h.
I for one worked very hard. Wasn’t late, didn’t call in sick, and was let go. I know many that were let go. So, YES, it’s a big deal to everyone that was affected. And those that are left to pick up the pieces are affected as well. Show some compassion.
Commenter below this one, the only thing minor about this situation is your understanding of thinking before you "speak." I saw many old friends and co-workers get let go yesterday. Regardless if your pro CVS or pro Aetna, a lot of people lost their jobs. Nothing minor about it....chicken little.
Larry Merlot had all the credibility of a cheesy, used car salesman. All of you CVS employees have been on this board for YEARS whining about how terrible your dead end retail jobs are, how your DMs su-k, how your stores are understaffed, how much destest your customers and pi-ping whatever BS CVS wants you to schill like CarePass. This was LONG before Karen ever showed up. Let's keep some perspective. CVS employs 300,000 people, 5k were impacted by this minor layoff, that's less than 2% of staff. The sky isn't falling chicken little. It's business in America. If there is some utopian company that cares about workers, offers pensions and never has a layoff, let me know? Your stores are ridiculously understaffed and staff is rude. Filling RXs is a nightmare at CVS and the plan is for everyone to get their medical care at CVS??? Hard pass.
Larry had to pick Karen because NO ONE at CVS understood how health insurance actually works. CVS was only used to trying to get every cent of profit they could from a health plan. Hate to tell you, it's easier to learn pharmacy and a poorly ran retail chain than it is to understand the behemoth and nuance of the insurance industry. Aetna is not reselling prescriptions from a manufacturer and lips glosses on aisle 8.
Cvs did not had this massive layoff in the last 15 years that I know.Small layoff around 2017 impacting finance
and digital .if you allow outsiders to rule your land this is what will happen. This is not the culture of cvs.Damage is done now, in the next one or two years all so called management and leaders will disappear once they cash in their stocks
Aetna was a cash cow ya dolt. With out Aetna Walgreens would be demolishing you
Yeah, check your facts. Aetna brings in billions and a higher return on investment than CVS'S other endeavors. Look at the yearly earning estimates that Aetna brings with it's name recognition and members. CVS made aetna it's bi--h by making aetna members use cvs pharmacy and force them into useless minute clinic services. CVS wants to pilfer money from aetna coffers and membership base to sell low value services. Just as CVS cancelled the contract with Teladoc because they want to force everyone to minute clinic. So desparate, it's sad.
Hey, the worst thing that happened to Aetna was CVS! We didn’t ask for this. Sure, the top top dogs at the time got paid, we’re left stuck with this awful arrangement.
Have you seen the healthcare stocks rise over the past 4 years? Humana, United…Aetna should be worth hundreds more. But no, we are saddled by a cheap five and dime department store that offers very little than a gas station or 7-11.
Have you heard the phrase “You can’t put lipstick on a pig”? CVS is a nightmare…I wish I was given an ERP, I would gladly leave!
Larry Merlot hand picked Karen
Wow, a lot of immature people on this thread.
CVS Caremark should have never acquired Aetna. There is no synergy, and integration has been a nightmare. All the good leaders are gone, and we are left with Aetna execs who have no idea how to run retail and pharmacy services biz.
I never thought it was a good idea and I had hoped the gvt would have shut the merger down. But here we are. Best wishes to everyone!
When was CVS a good company?
Thank Merlot

The current CEO and CFO are both legacy Aetna and most of the ELT were hired by Karen…
Not the other way around. Aetna were the ones that brought along Karen and elevated her to run this sh-tshow.
