Thread regarding CVS layoffs

I feel numb

I was informed that I was safe, but almost half of my team was let go.

I thought I would feel more relieved but seeing the farewell emails hit my inbox and goodbye pings all throughout the day from analysts who had just started out of school all the way up to sr directors left me shaken up. I don’t know how those still left on my team are expected to pick up the pieces and carry on with business as usual. Did anyone else’s teams get decimated?

Can’t understand how they chose the people they did to let go. We lost two on our team and they were both really great, hardworking team members that were good at their jobs. Tbh, I probably should have been let go before either other of them and maybe several other members of the team, too. This has our morale completely busted. We were already struggling to finish our workload. HTF we gonna do it with two of our best gone?

There were more people I work with or adjacent to affected by this than I anticipated. Haven’t thought ahead about how any departments already feeling crunched at capacity are supposed to pick up the pieces and carry on, dealing with team changes or added workload.

It’s basically like they’re losing all these smart people, but still want to make projected $$$ for stockholders. If we were burned out after the pandemic and lacked some of the loyalty to climbing the ladder we may have previously had, imagine the collective mindset and morale now. Like resources always felt sort of tapped and it’s hard to find answers sometimes. That’s only going to be worse with all the talented people I’ve seen let go.

Don't want to scare you. But they might not keep your Dept either. Some decimated departments are phased to be eliminated by Wednesday. If they decide to keep you they will put you somewhere else.

I was also spared but feel the same tonight, just awful. Digital, Product.

Looks like those left will be PMs POs and SMs at once. There will be some reorg, we will be expected to perform or else. Fun times.

This is a time for leaders to actually lead. Today I know of a couple who did so, and some who hid and left their teams blowing in the wind.

Yes, I feel like I am in he-l. I would rather have gotten the severance and been let go.
