currently on maternity leave

I gave birth 3 weeks ago, and currently on my maternity leave. Am I safe?

Unfortunately no. My last company did a mass layoff and people on paternity/maternity leave were also let go.

I know this will be easier said than done, but try to focus on your baby and focusing on your recovery. Please try to not let this situation overwhelm you or stress you out. The last think you need is to develop PPD, while getting adjusted to a new born. I really hope you're doing OK.

being on leave does not protect you in the event of a mass layoff. they simply call you at home to tell you.

FMLA does not protect you from a layoff. Nobody is safe.

FML will protect you but only upon your return in a few weeks. They can do it then

They could lay you off and if it's a sizable number of people in your org being laid off it cant be said that you were unfairly targeted.

That being said I hope the best for your situation of course.
