Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Severance package says I was displaced and performance related. What can I do?

My severance package says I was displaced and it said it was also performance related. I have had "meets" the entire time I have been here and my boss told me during call this morning that it was NOT performance related.

Anything I can do to fight and get more money?

Probably related to company performance, not the individual's performance.

Exactly! It’s just jargon. Take the severance and run!

You don’t have to share the information- which I agree is BS - with your new prospective employers. Don’t worry about it. Get 3 good references who know you and go forth with a better job.

You all should know by now. Managers can make up all kinds of stuff just to cut their team's costs. They never get caught on cheating, so they keep doing it.

Same and I consistently got an exceeds or consistently exceeds.

If it is impacting any severance (i.e. they don't pay it because it's "performance related"), then absolutely hire an attorney.

If it is impacting any unemployment benefits, then absolutely hire an attorney.

@izwj

Did you get severence? 'I was displaced twice by WF since 2021'. Heard a couple of folks that got sev, hired back close to it ending, then let go again with another package! Assumed this was Urban legend.

Don’t waste one more moment worrying about that legalese. Move on to the next phase of your life and enjoy it.

Get a lawyer and go for a wrongful termination. The bank will settle quickly.

You are the only person that will see this going forward. Any future employer you will just tell them your position was eliminated and all wells will ever verify to a future employer asking is whether or not you.worked there. If you were fired for cause you wouldn't have a severance package.

Understand it is boilerplate but why does it have to mention job performance, why not just say “job criticality” and leave it at that?

I was displaced twice by WF since 2021 and both times the letter said job criticality / job performance. I have never received anything lower than a “meets” in my entire 15 years of service.

What do you mean get more money? It's strictly LOS based.

They all say that. I had a perfect review then in my severance it said it was for job criticality / job performance. It's just boilerplate wording and you shouldn't put any thought into it or let it affect you emotionally. Wells Fargo does not determine your worth.

Severance amount is the same. I would not worry about it

Couple hmcs on my team were displaced after just coming back from a leave of absence. Awful. Management met with teams and tried putting positive spin on it all

That would bother me too! I understand your frustration!

Just get a copy of your last review that holds the truth. That is key.

Since no company is obligated to provide a severance package for terminated employees, they will most likely say "NO" if you ask for more (it doesn't hurt to ask but don't get your hopes up).

I wouldn't worry about the reasons for being displaced. If it hasn't set in yet, you've been terminated so why worry about WF any more? Focus your mind and energy on finding your next job, not your last.
