Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Don't let yourself go crazy reading this board

You don't know the people who are posting on this board. Nobody knows for sure what's going to happen or exactly when it's going to happen. I've worked for Omnicare for years. In 2017 they had closed two of the billing centers in ours was next, then they decided not to do it. During the pandemic they had layoffs every 6 months. Last year there was another layoff. The big lesson: Life is not always fair. People are not always fair. No matter what job you're in, you are helping somebody. Focus on that. If you think anybody on this board can answer your questions you might as well be asking the Magic 8 Ball. No job at any company is guaranteed. I don't want to be harsh but some people on this board are just trolling and making others feel more anxious than necessary. CVS already did a good enough job of that. Please just be kind to each other, pray for each other and don't post a bogus or made up information.

I have used this site off and on over the last 10 years and have found it to be very helpful with layoffs because no one tells u what is going on and what to expect.

Like someone else mentioned, the layoffs have became "the new normal" here years ago, and waiting for months to receive the official info about it is nerve-wracking. If the management were to change their super-secretive attitude and provide us with the real info on time, none of us would have had the need to search for tidbits of info elsewhere. But that's never going to happen.
A few of my coworkers and I stumbled upon this site in 2017, and it worked for me ever since. Back than, the rumors about the big restructure were floating around the office, no transparency from the management what so ever (does it sound familiar?!). The info found here helped us prepare for what was coming.
Since then, I check it out from time to time to see what's cooking. I always find some useful staff to read (and it helps me feel more in control), but that's just me. Nothing's more important than your mental health, so if you feel that content here might distract or you from focusing on yourself, don't stress about it - just un-bookmark this page/stop visiting.

This company laid off thousands a year ago, a year before that they laid off thousands. Now they're laying off thousands. See a pattern here? If you are someone who really needs to stay with CVS, you have to understand they do layoffs, its perfectly normal for them to layoff thousands every year. So you don't get laid off this time and you stay . Will you get taken out next time? Maybe . I know lots of people who have been laid off from this company, some multiple times, they get laid off, come back, then get laid off again. It's a silly game , one you basically agree to on employment. probably better to just find a job with a more stable company who doesn't use mass layoffs as a way of balancing the yearly books.

Well said! This is what’s wrong with the world today - people get their news from social media and take it as fact. Huge mistake.

Don’t know where to ask this, but after a tone deaf meeting with a VP level today where they referenced a “process being applied” for upcoming layoffs, they made my already wavering morale tank.

For anyone who has stayed at a company that had mass layoffs- do you feel survivors guilt? What’s it like to stay at the company knowing that a bunch of people were let go? What does this do to morale? I am not sure I can come back from this embracing heart at work behaviors.

Every Morning Roundup email I get with fluffy articles like todays, “Test your CVS Knowledge!” makes me throw up a little in my mouth.

Nice try. ‘CVS already did a good enough job of that” ? Where did you get that from? Are you the one who has helped draft the execution/communication strategy for this mayhem? Lot of supervisors at high levels are also saying that this is a poorly executed cluster …. Layoffs are fact of life, can happen to anyone true. Organizations need to be responsible when announcing such layoffs. They should do it swiftly. Should not subject employees to so much stress

Correct. Every post on this d-mb site is BS. No one knows anything.

No, I'm not an HR person. I'm a 60 plus-year-old woman who's works in she's been 16 and never worked for a company that did layoffs like CVS. I understand they expect us to do our work be productive and be loyal to them while they are hanging our jobs over our heads. But you don't know if it's going to be you, you don't know when it's going to happen. I and my widower who lost my husband 4 years ago, so if you don't think I don't have any stress about this your mistaken. I just find it does no good to worry over the unknown. Unlike most people on this board who are much younger than myself my job prospects are practically zero. So yes I focus on my work cuz I know I'm helping others, I focus on taking care of myself because I have no family if something happens to me. So be grateful for what you have, try not to worry, and be kind to others

A good way to reduce stress levels is to steal company wages by updating your resume and calling recruiters on company time.

Thanks for the message and what you say is true. I am older and have been through 3 layoffs (different companies, I was layed off for one of them). It can be stressful but does no good to worry. But this is an anonymous board and people use it to vent, complain or troll. Welcome to the internet.

But we do know what's going to happen because Karen told us she's laying off 5,000 employees within the upcoming weeks.

Hi, HR shill, you’ve oversold your story with “just focus on work” and 8 upvotes in 5 minutes. Better luck next time.
