Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

zz'd then not zz'd

Someone reached out to me because the person they tried to contact about a problem was now zz'd. I looked and sure enough she was zz'd. But she was also green on Teams which seemed odd - but thought maybe this just happened and she was finishing the day? I looked at her og structure and her manager was also zz'd.
Next day - she's online again - and her zz and her manager's zz are gone.
How could that happen? Just an HR mistake? Or a change of heart??
Anyone ever hear of that happening before? Sure would give me the some anxiety about my future if that happened.

This happened to me a few years ago when I switched jobs. I logged in a few days into my new role, saw a .zz in the morning and was thinking "that was quick!" I got a few skype messages asking if everything was OK. I said "if they aren't I haven't heard yet!". I was told it was an HR issue. When I left the old job, several system accesses had to be deleted. Some other entitlement or role was also deleted so I showed as .zz. It took a few days and it was resolved, and I'm still here.

It’s also done for people on Required Absence. You are locked out for 10 days.

are you the person who shared the teams article about how to update teams status to sync today?

If so, I’m probably the person who got Zz’d and we can circle back to this theory next quarter

See the auditors who tried to get me at New Years and again in the prior audits, all mentioned deadlines and rushes. These deadlines correlated with Tuesdays, and apparent Hr timing for layoffs.

Today was a deadline to enter a recommendation. Guessing a layoff/termination within 2 months is planned.

I would like someone from HR/management to explain how/why this happens. “Mistake” isn’t enough of an explanation when it happens around an actual displacement date. Anyone in the know that can tell us?

This happened to two of my colleagues. They were told it was a “mistake”…. Interestingly they were not let go during this round of layoffs.

That usually happens by accident before real layoff occurs. Someone mistyped start date in the system.

Seen one employee knocked offline for a couple months because of an HR mistake and the time it took to get through the red tap to restore access.

He was getting paid the whole time, just could not work.

Happened to a previous manager of mine about 6 months ago and said it was an HR mistake and fixed the next day. About two months later and it was a legit zz via displacement. So…?!!?

I have seen that before, in one of my previous managers. He was still online / no issues but it had him as zz. Text said it was a mistake in the HR feed (eye roll) but seriously nerve-wracking! There are so many things HR should really be more careful about - especially at times like this. People are moving too fast and not paying attention.
