If that’s true, why go the extra mile?

At this point think only manager favorites/long timers get Exceeds. No incentive to go above and beyond."
AMEN!!! Could not have been said any better except for the long timers part. Long timers get same treatment. It's just favorites that may be getting exceeds.
lol, audit away. All they'll find is how their own effort is lacking by comparison.
I’m in tech and have received exceeds for the past two years. Before that it was generally a meets. I also busted my @ss to get those ratings. However, neither came with a huge raise or bonus above and beyond the years with a meets, so I’m over it. They will get the effort of a “meets.”
Makes it easy to ax you

I’ve stopped putting in extra effort to only get a meets. When execs & sr leaders act like they give a $hit about employees, I will increase my effort. Off to go play powerball in the hopes I finally get lucky.
For most, yes, it is true with this c-suite. Going the extra mile is now a waste of time.
For anyone who says they’ve been getting above a meets for several consecutive years and IF you’ve had the same manager for that time, it should be an automatic audit trigger to be reviewed in depth.
Not true. I got exceeds for 4 years running
I’m one of the top producers in my department and am also volunteering to help other teams outside our department catch up since they are so short staffed.
If I get just a ‘meets’, I will refuse to go back to the office.
Our department gets one person to give it to, and I’ll be watching closely who gets it.
In TECH everyone gets a Meets
If not in Tech, you can get other ratings
There is no point in going above and behind, you will only get a meets at best and lucky to get a 2% raise. Only way up in this company is through nepotism.
Back a decade ago the company used to do Gold Coin awards and also hold one or two Top Performer banquets a year. I was once a Top Performer and went to the company's big celebration banquet at a JW Marriot where it was a big weekend party and we got to meet all the executives and everything. We were told we were the top 1% (or maybe top 2%) of performers in the company and it was a huge deal.
I still got the same 2% raise as every other year I worked at WF, I just got a one-time 15% bonus that year instead of the 8-11% bonus that was previously normal. I forget what the review scales were at the time, but I think it was 1-5 ratings and even as a top performer employee I only got a 4, not a 5, because I was told 5's are only for employees who are being promoted to management or a different role or whatever.
So in theory you'll get a better bonus, or sorry - discretionary incentive award - but beyond that there's little reason to beat yourself up and put in a ton of long hours and unpaid overtime. Just make sure you're getting your work done, logging it accurately in stamp, Jira, or whatever the important tools are in your area.
guidance is that 5% get consistently exceeds, 10% get exceeds. but in my experience sr leaders really push back on meets+ ratings because they have to defend them to their bosses and there is a perception that when business performance isnt good, ratings cant be good either
