Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Please post if you have been designated ATL or DAL to report but live in a different state.

Team member living in ATL has been designated to report to ATL, wondering how many of these letters went out to folks not residing in state.

“ ATL for me from Colorado, hoping I can afford to move,”

Make sure you do your research - unless you’re finally secure, single (or married to a spouse who likes risks), or have ‘always wanted to move to Atlanta’, I don’t understand why anyone would move for T. Atlanta is expensive- Alpharetta even more so, it’s an N2 pay zone, and you could easily end up surplused in 6 months anyway. They’ve even mentioned in the FAQ letters they may ‘consolidate’ cities where there are 2 locations. So not only the risk of layoffs , but possibly be asked to move again.
At this point I kind of wish I was asked to move so I could say no thanks and get my severance. Instead it’s back to the office for me, for now.

What about Pricing Managers and ICB Pricing Managers in Atlanta? Are they moving to Dallas?

“ Can anyone help shed any light if you’re in a hub location of the future why would you be asked to move across the country to another hub?”

Two possible reasons:

1- you aren’t located in YOUR hub of the future.
2- they just want you off payroll and will say anything to make that happen.

When the letters do arrive you will have 14 days to make a choice.

If you choose not to move you will receive severance and will be told when your last day is.

If you choose to move severance is immediately off the table and you will be provided a report date. (This has been with 6 months of notification so that there is no additional money above severance)

If you fail to report 3-5 in office beginning on your report date you are terminated.

For anyone needing a reminder, AT&T's workforce looks like it sustained heavy losses in some recent conflict, shrinking in record time from about 280,000 people at the end of 2017 – including all the Time Warner employees it was then about to welcome with a vampire's charm through its doors – to 169,900 last month. That's a drop of 110,100 in less than five years.

San Ramon and LA IT folks have got the letters to move to Dallas. Directors can choose either Atlanta or Dallas and are expected to move in next 12 months. Letter says ur position in this city are going to be closed and will be moved to ATL/DAL with no relocation fee.

If you have until 2024 then just tell them “yes, you will move” and you will have longer on benefits and more pay then the 6 months severance. Townes group is being told December so severance is better plan.

OP "Me, for Dallas Metro, currently VO not in TX or GA".

Legg org.

Forgot to mention timing:

Formal notification "later this year" with response expected "within a short period of time."

"by 2024"

And that's it, the rest of the letter is fluff.

All of Business Marketing was told their location would be Dallas (even those in Atlanta). This is in an Alicia Dietsch email; however, the "official" letters and decision time aren't coming until sometime in August.
