Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Intentionally phucking with employees

Never in my life have I worked some place that while rolling out a broken VDI implementation with features missing that are needed to do our jobs, now puts up an app on the screen covering up all our work that we are trying to get done and the work of others who have been laid off and their job sent to India with some stupid Skype is retiring message that we can not get rid of. I am in the middle of a huge word document I was given ZERO notice was needed and now have to phuck around trying to figure out how to see my document with this banner here that I can not remove. I have never worked in such a toxic and mind phucking place in my life.

My VDI experience was terrible, then I started using my personal laptop and it is much better. All the encryption and controls on the corporate laptops making VDI a miserable experience. Now I just scan the QR code and I’m fully logged in in about 30 seconds. It stays connected all day, and I have zero issues. Heck, I even take my personal one to office because it’s just a better overall machine. Like much of Wells Fargo, our corporate supplied laptops are under sh--e.

There was no way to confirm it, there were three radio button/check boxes and it didn't matter what you did to select any of them there was no acknowledge option so no need to call me a d-mb a-s, you're half the reason this place is shut a he-l hole.

VDI was great, for exactly two weeks.

It may not be the case that they're squishing the VM footprints with cost management but it sure feels like it. Apps are slower (kind of ironic when you consider these are the trimmed-down, 2D apps that Microsoft specifically rewrote since 3D would be more resource intensive), disconnects are more frequent, and sh-t just randomly stops working.

But the best part of the VDI screwup is when the laptop protection sets the flag for not being connected to the VPN, then doesn't unset it when you reconnect to the VPN. You have to fully reboot the laptop client computer, then reconnect to the VPN, and finally reconnect to VDI. The bit will not unset unless you reboot. I've tried waiting up to 15 minutes and it still blocks.

Congratulations, you just spent 5 minutes fixing a software issue on a piece of hardware you're not supposed to need anymore, since you have a virtual desktop, in order to reconnect to your virtual desktop.

However, you used to not need to do that. Once you had initially reconnected to the VPN, you still have access to all internal addresses that you should have access to. You just can't access external websites. Hooray for the public cloud!

VDI is complete dog s--t.

The executives don't know how bad it is because they don't use it.

Leo keeps blowing smoke up everyones' ar-e about how great it will be that they can work from any device and Wells can save money on future personal computing expenses.

But no one is tracking the lost productivity from tens of thousands of users constantly running into issues with VDI.

Just look at the VDI group in Teams and you'll see a never ending stream of issues people are having.

Yep. Get out if & when you can. Everything's falling apart. Had a manager curse me out as something took longer due to the screen blocking.
