Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Manager Won’t Call Me Back

I was laid off in the last week and had questions for my manager regarding my benefits, equipment return, and issues getting a “code” to access the HR system as a displaced employee so that I can apply for other jobs as an internal candidate. They advised me last week we could meet this week to ask my questions. I have not heard back and have reached out without a response. When I advised HR of my manager’s radio silence, they didn’t seem to care. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, the most concerning part is that I cannot apply for any positions since applying as an external candidate is not allowed. Thank you for reading.

Sounds like you are in the bargaining stage of your Kubler-Ross grief cycle. https://www.healthline.com/health/stages-of-grief. If provided use the services HR has to get yourself together. Life is not over. However, your manager is history to you. It's like a divorce.

Get your resume together. Talk to career consultants. Go to youtube and search for "life after layoff". https://www.youtube.com/@ALifeAfterLayoff

Understand your manager might be in the same way. I would assume Wells has counseling opportunities for them.

The most important thing is simply getting the box to return your laptop and badge. If they don't ask for anything else, they don't want it. It's crucial to return whatever they request of you, but everything else comes from HR via the email(s) and meetings they'll schedule with you.

After all of this you STILL want an internal position? Are you just begging for the mental anguish?

The managers are not allowed to have any contact with displaced employees. All future communications are handled by the HR (displacement) team. This has nothing to do with caring or not caring....

Managers used to get paid to care about their team members performance, careers, well being.....not anymore. My manager asked me why I was wasting my time with a displaced member of my team. I'm sure I'll be a 2 now.

I was laid off in February . Make sure WF has your home email. You will receive notification of calls that will answer questions for benefits etc. Our department admin made arrangements for return boxes to be sent out. You will get an email.

This is not your manager's job. Contact the displacement team... they are the ones trained to deal with all of the post-layoff questions and tasks. I was laid off a few months ago and their contact info was provided on the call.
