“ WFH 100%. I’ve no desire to run my yap at the “water cooler”, or go out to an hour+ lunch at an overpriced restaurant. In addition, I prefer to use that “commute time” to get down to brass tacks (doing the job I’m paid for). Finally, there’s nobody that I work with (daily) at my “RTO” building, so it’s an absolutely superfluous mandate to me.”

Ha, any extra effort on your part is clearly superfluous…..

I have never worked from an office. never even spent a full day in an office. my closest office is over 50 miles away. there is absolutely no reason for me to be in an office. none of my team is there, most of my work I cant do in a shared environment, so office work is not even efficient for me. being forced to RTO is just pushing me out of the company, but I'll ride it out to get my full severance.

“WFH!”

Another well articulated worker from their couch. No wonder the company is in a nose dive.

10 years ago, I would compromise coming to work 2x a week, wasting gas, 4hrs of commute weekly. Today? no. I am all for REMOTE so I can save time, money, gas and wear and tear of my car + avoiding possible car accidents on the road. I can no longer compromise this inflation, higher gas prices, high cost of living and too much traffic on the road.

WFH for sure. However, since the company wants everyone back in office I feel like Hybrid is a Win win for both the employer and employee. Two days a week works best to allow space for everyone. For example one group can work Monday/Wednesday and another Tuesday/Thursday and Fridays are WFH days for everyone or makeup days. Just my opinion.

But let’s be honest we all know that this RTO is their way of getting people to resign on their own. If you make it too comfortable for employees they will never leave. You have 70+ year olds working from home now saying “why should I retire, I have it easy?” Which I believe is what’s happening right now. So if this is your business how do you get those employees to retire? Make it as uncomfortable for them as possible and watch how fast they put in for retirement. This is just one group the company would like to see go, there are others also. Reading headcount is the End game.

All the companies I've been interviewing at are going 100% remote. They are getting rid of their office buildings and doubling down on WFH.

Folks, it’s not going to matter in 12-18 months. The vast majority of employees will be working in a divested subsidiary or completely new company. This is just temporary…roll with it.

WFH = trips to the store, watching TV, doing laundry, watching kids, gardening, mowing the lawn, occasional conference call in sweatpants….and on and on.

“ I’m am 1000% more productive” , no you’re just too lazy to get up and go to work.

Funny how people would go to the office if they did not have to move. But people that live close to their office (less than 50 miles) don’t want to go back to office.

If i lived near an office, i would go into the office - because when i took the job, it was expected of me to report to the office. Unfortunately, they closed the office in my area and moved my job to Dallas.

RTO hands down. It is nice being in the city during the day and then return home.

WFH, been doing it on and off for years. Not trying to speak for everyone here but personally my productivity is higher when I can work remote and I'm a happier more content employee willing to go above and beyond. Force me into an office 3 days a week where nobody I work with day-to-day is, and I'll be doing the bare minimum to get by and get "achieves" ratings.

Speaking of productivity, legit studies do show overall it's higher remote than in office for the types of jobs that can be done remote - we should all ignore the recent barrage of corporate and commercial real-estate pushed "studies" that show a decline in remote work productivity - it's simply not based in reality and it's very transparent that all of a sudden questionable studies are showing the opposite of what legit studies have been showing since covid began.

“ WFH. Be doing it for over 3 1/2 years and much more productive. No interruptions, noisy talking, time wasting commute and having to pack a lunch or waste time and money in a restaurant.”

Delusional post winner of the year…

WFH. I have been doing it for 15 years. I’ve made T a lot of money doing it. They never batted an eyelid until now. Commuting, especially with everyone on their cell phone and smoking pot while going down the road has become very dangerous. And what about the environment that all of these companies want to protect? 150,000 people commuting adds a lot of Greenhouse Gases. Even if you drive electric, getting your electricity from your coal-fired power plant.

I’d work 5 days in the office, if they weren’t forcing me to pack my family and move. RTO does not mean Return-To-Office. It means: the-company-is-testing-your-extreme-fears-hoping-to-scrape-most-of-you-off-the-payroll

If you are upset about going back to an office to work, keep crying, it’s fueling my arms, which are playing the worlds tiniest violin for you.

I get they want us not 100% virtual. But 2 days a week would have been a good start for virtual workers to return.

So my answer is, I prefer to WFH with a requirement of only 2 days a week in office.

After 27 years of WTF you can keep your dirty, filthy, zero air conditioned or heated, non toilet paper available, dirty desk, garbage over flowing, bug infested, broken chair, sticky desk, threadbare carpeted office.

The choice is simple, 5 days week in the office.

I like coming into an office a few times a week where I know and interact with people that are not in my same work group. I do learn a lot about what is going on around the company.

I was going into such a location and there were about 20 people in that building. Now, it’s go to an office and put on the headset for 3 days.

It really depends on one’s work, it’s not a one size fits all solution. My job requires working from the office most days.
