Enough is Enough: Unraveling the Tangled Web of Misinformation

As an employee of the bank and current member of this online community, I feel it is high time I address the growing torrent of inaccuracies and damaging speculation that are running rampant. It's become abundantly clear that some users here are seriously misinformed and are contributing to a rising tide of confusion.

Just this past week, there were countless comments revolving around the process of signing off on mid-year reviews. The information propagated was, at best, misunderstood, and at worst, deliberately misleading.

What's more, it seems there is a disturbing lack of awareness about the counterintelligence activities the bank is engaging in. The bank is monitoring this site, and I strongly suspect that it's manipulating the narrative in its favor. On numerous occasions, I've noticed that every time a truthful, positive, or even constructive comment is posted, almost immediately, an opposing voice crops up, spewing fallacies to muddy the waters.

I urge everyone here to consider the authenticity of such contradictory posts. It's important to remember that while we're seeking clarity and honest discourse, there are others with a vested interest in preventing that from happening.

Further still, it is alarming that some users seem to find delight in creating chaos and distress for others. These individuals display signs of schadenfreude, a psychological term referring to the malicious enjoyment of others' misfortune. To those individuals, I implore you to consider the real-world implications of your actions. This isn't a game, and real people's livelihoods are affected by the uncertainty and misinformation you perpetuate.

We are all here for a common purpose: to engage in meaningful, truthful dialogue about our shared experiences, to demystify the complexities of the bank, and to support one another in our collective journey. It's high time we cut through the cacophony of falsehoods and focus on facilitating a more informed and empathetic community.

Remember, each one of us is a potential victim of disinformation, but we're also potential solutions. Let's make this platform a beacon of accuracy, compassion, and sincerity. Together, we can fight the tide of misinformation and restore the integrity of this community.

"Just this past week, there were countless comments revolving around the process of signing off on mid-year reviews."

Yeah.. My manager left. Manager provided written comments for reviews to their manager, my 2-up. Manager provided NO RECOMMENDED RATINGS TO THEIR MANAGER FOR US.

My 2-up fills in the mid-year form:

"Per MANAGER, blah, blah, blah"

For everything. Did not offer one ounce of feedback or review. The 2-up assigned the rating but did not write any of the written feedback.

I then emailed the 2-up asking how I could improve. The 2-up responds and includes some written recommendations THAT WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE MID-YEAR..

So, yeah. The process is jacked.

Give us a situation and then tell us what we can do about it other than complain.

I wouldn’t underestimate the relevancy of this forum board. It might be a rumor site with a bunch of trolls, but can be very informative, you just need to figure out how to read it (paying attention to a thread's engagement is the key).
Take things written here with a grain of salt, but also note that all relevant info comes here first, way before it gets in the news and way before most of your managers get notified.
We do have occasional leaks from time to time with the actual layoff info (or c-suits shifts), but more often you get sense that something's cooking with the level of engagement on certain topics (and the frequency of the same topic being mentioned).

I just get tired of all the people moning about their situation and them unwilling to do anything about it but complain. it's also annoying people asking for info on policies like severance which are easily found on Teamworks,.or as OP mentioned having to approve ones mid year, which you don't, your boss just has to submit it. plus, even with year end you when you acknowledge the review you are just saying you got it not that you agree with it.

OP Your post is well- written and I respect your taking the time to address some of the issues out here.

Same here, especially when its content is plagerized, cut and pasted. :)

A little truth, Tech/CyberSec will be targeting people for layoffs based on their “activity” this will be directly tied to their “productivity” which is recorded in Jira. This is directly for a TBSC under a direct of Sunil.

Best start making those fake Jira tickets folks.

Pot call kettle black OP! All the posts on this site are the result of failed leadership, a culture of uncertainty, games, and bad employee relations, period! Top leaders came out a few years ago and said how they want natural attrition and people to quit, basically that as many people could quit as they wanted so they wouldn't have to pay severance to them. They degraded morale, nobody else! Let's get it straight! The company has paid millions and millions in fines while laying off people to cut costs. And you try to blame it on this board? Get outta here! I don't care who you are, you're not going to intimidate us.

The info here can fall into basically a few different categories.

  • Easily verified-- stuff that's policy, communicated via email announcements or in the handbooks.
  • Speculation - layoff dates, who left and why, WTF are people thinking. Don't necessarily take any of this at face value. It's speculation or people people just making stuff up.
  • Opinion on what's going on. As the saying goes, opinions are like rectums. Everybody has one and they all stink. Again, consider the source -- an anonymous site w/out even pseudonyms and mix of trolls and people who comment honestly. Don't believe everything you read.

If people from the company with any clue/power are here-- they could do well to consider some of the issues that come up b/c sure as sh*t the employee survey isn't necessarily giving you the unvarnished truth.

Can you provide any examples?

OP Your post is well- written and I respect your taking the time to address some of the issues out here.

Most of the problematic posts I see out here are people seemingly getting a kick out of posting false layoff dates. (I just ignore those)

Also, personally, I don’t get employees attacking other employees. I automatically assume that person is an oaf and ignore them.
