Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Surpluses need to cut deeper

I often look around this company and wonder why it continues hire/employ so many losers. I mean they aren’t driven, disciplined, and generally have basic skills and education.

Mr Troll, you’re gonna get your wish soon. T is going to hire a bunch of GenZ who will come in and work for a few hours a day, vlogging the rest or influencing on Instagram, making you stuck doing all the work they’re supposed to but since it’s not their vibe, they’ll quit on week 2.

If surplus needs to cut deeper, take me, I'm ready to leave, but will not go unless I'm compensated handsomely for it per my contract!

"At this point, anyone who has other options is leaving. So the skillset of those who are left is sharply declining"

A ridiculous comment as neither of your observations are valid.

Nice try troller. T needs start by “surplusing” two or three layers of the grossly overpaid, do little to nothing AVP/VP/EVP’s!

"surplus everyone above level 3 except for those who can program, CTS/ATS or STEM trained."

You still need a sales department and sales leadership. We should fire all the L3s in Retail and Business? Lmao wild.

Here is a solution : surplus everyone above level 3 except for those who can program, CTS/ATS or STEM trained. We might want to keep a few accountants but make sure that the never get made CEO.

OP, you are correct. We're simply a product of the leadership of ATT.

The OP probably feel he's superior than others and will never get the hammer. While I agree with the assessment that many employees "aren’t driven, disciplined, and generally have basic skills and education." However, they are usually the people who flew under the radar and will get to stay over their more competent peers simply due to their zip code or political skills. Cutting deep is only going to drive out good workers.

I very much agree with this. Top performers, and I mean top 10%, especially award winners for performance pretty much ALWAYS find another job at AT&T after a surplus.

It's always those who are average performers, those who have outdated or unneeded skills, and bottom performers who once surplused can't find anything else at AT&T.

It's competitive. The more departments they cut, the more personnel they suprlus, and the worse our economy gets the tougher the competition gets.

Pretty much a good thing tbh. It's means, ultimately, the best performers and those with the best skills will win out. Labor economics 101.

Some people have never studied econ on this website and it shows.

Maybe it's all AT&T can get. I mean ... if you ARE driven and have great skills, why in the world would you work at AT&T ? And AT&T gets what it pays for. I just started looking for another job and I actually see better salary rates for what I was doing here.

I see boot-licking posters here calling us whiners, losers, whatever but the fact is the company continues to decline because of leadership. It's actually pretty stupid to say it's the employees because the employer has complete control over the quality of it's workers and their output. It's called LEADERSHIP! MANAGEMENT SKILLS!
AT&T clearly has zero. Morale in this place is zero. People here have zero inspiration or motivation. Only those that crave the taste of shoe shine and rubber off C-suite loafers think this place is great.
