Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I am in Tech

I know my job is being offshored...
My fellow colleagues have decided to
Lose documents for the off shore folks..
Can't wait till they try to fix some of this when it breaks...

Credit unions are likely to be the ones that have the fewest or no overseas workers, honestly. Since credit unions can't even have branches outside of their home state and of course are essentially set up as non-profit companies (it's more complicated, but essentially true) there is no motivation to cut service and squeeze out every last cent of profit from their members.

OP actually had documentation? Lol.

In most cases of there actually is some documentation it’s generally garbage.

How things actually work and why they work that way is often in people’s heads.

@1jil+1nDpcRiW Doesn't surprise me. Managers here (well, 95%) don't have character.

@1uwt+1nDpcRiW I doubt any bank can make this claim.

The one person in management I used to respect blatantly lied on my year end review, then I was part of a large group in tech that got cut. She caved in, threw out her Judeo-Christian values and protected her job by lying about many peoples performance, even though she plans to retire. What a way to show your (lack of) character after so many years.

If I were a competing bank or Credit Union, a great slogan would be "We employ US workers", if that is the case.

As a potential customer, I would say I'm paying a US bank for US level of expertise and service. If I wanted the standard of service of some of these countries they are outsourcing to, I'd move there. If you are going to give me cut price service then lower your fees or increase your offerings, ie: provide a better deal. Not that I would prefer the latter.

@fjv. LOLOLOLOLOL Sorry Charlie, not that simple, especially for the grade of offshore folks you've contracted for. Ha e fun with the next year end! Don't worry, almost all companies have to restate their financials now... :D

US companies have been offshiring for couple decades, like most things we were late to the game, but funny how people weren't concerned when others were doing it but only are now that it affects them. maybe reach out to your congressional reps and senators

To the posters that say code is self documenting or that they would never do that

  1. Good luck

Code is not self documenting and can take months to figure out what is going on
If something is broken and is costing a million dollars a day and will take 2 months to fix you figure out what that means

  1. As a young person working I don't care if you wouldn't do that. They are getting rid of our jobs in America to put millions more in the pockets of executives instead of ensuring we have the best workers not the cheapest.
  1. RTO has been proven to not be needed to be successful

Since they are deliberately making people's lives miserable in order to get rid of American jobs why should we care since they don't.

I'm in tech, I've been "disgruntled", I would never do this.

OP is probably FOS, but it's garbage like this that we don't need.

IT folks are usually well paid and supposed to be in a "profession".

OP is trash and probably overestimates just how vital and important he is.

Other people will figure out whatever they need to figure out.

IT isn't a mystery.

I don't think you need to "lose" documents for the offshore team to mess things up.

Charlie is a PIS offloading US jobs to India. Let the whole system crash. Borrowers need to know that their confidential docs are overseas

No offense to our offshore team...but it's your job now!

It's not only the lengthy delay in some things, it is the fact the company has flat out taken a 'No need' approach to certain improvements and fixes. There are reported, known defects in applications and the company line of our new environment is to not spend the money to have them fixed. Errors being caused. Data being lost. Applications which crash then likely cause both of the previously mentioned faults to occur again.

Outside people seriously have no clue. Charlie has turned this company into a joke.

We have lost in tech so many knowledgeable people that supported our systems. A bunch had enough and left for other companies and some retired and the people brought in to replace....not worth what they are being paid.
The Agile Product Owners that's a joke there they don't know anything and make it up as they go along and yell at their teams to cover up their incompetence. The people from Chase are the worst arrogant and stupid.

A tech person from India responding to this thread. I can definitely say the OP is right that documents are not being provided and the people that were supposed to train us ..didn't..and now they are gone.

I feel your pain OP, my job was offshored in 2021. I did the same thing. All KT sessions were high level. They were going to have to dig up the entire back yard to find the buried bodies. Take comfort in knowing that the indian consulting companies do not get the best and brightest, they get what's left. It's going to su-k for the coworkers you leave behind, but Wells is going to get exactly what they are paying for.

Thanks for the reply Charlie...only someone sending jobs from a US based company overseas to get rid of American workers would be concerned about the glaring hole in their plan that tech people will simply not provide all the details on the systems they support...which will cripple the company when systems go down..
