in other shocking news: the sun rose in the east this morning.
FRTO. FRTO FOREVER AND EVER UNTIL THE END IF TIME!!! AND FU IF YOU SUPPORT IT. That is all.
India cannot work from home as these people have no internet at home
A few years ago I tried to give my staff (at another company) work from home days.
They all said no.
They said if their jobs could be done from home, then they could be done from India.
I like having 24/7 follow the sun support, I'm not against some offshoring.
But the rational they gave is exactly why RTO is BS.
If they can hire remote we can all work remote.
The post below nailed it: If RTO was so important, then why is a third of our staff on the other side of the planet? RTO and the core location strategy are just an excuse for layoffs of US workers.
If having us all in the same location was so important, they wouldn't have been falling over themselves to get more and more of our jobs transferred 8 to 12 timezones away.
As long as management continues to hire remote workers in India and the Philippines, we see their RTO "collaboration" bllsht for what it is.
Office interaction was useful years ago. Today, this is abused as I am told to train H1B visa workers.
(1) Sharing is not collaborating, it is plagiarism - a concept many visa workers do not understand.
(2) In office, the dominant language between people is usually not English, unless it is for picking my brains.
RTO is useful if all these companies hire quality workers. It is useless when you only hire visa workers aiming to "extract knowledge IN OFFICE".
FRTO
How can you argue with these comments. He basically says it works for some and then doesn't for others. If it works for the company then so be it. If it doesn't, then find another job at a different company.
Just because someone makes millions and millions, doesn't necessarily make them an expert or knowledgeable any more. Just guarantees they are a good bs'er
A wealthy elitist says what?
Pretty sure Dimon is not referring to the legion of tech and other task/processing jobs that require no human to human interation to get things done. Absolutely can see benefits if you are on the money generation side to be in the office.
If I show up to an office today there is no chance more opportunities will present themselves or see benefits from networking with miserable people who are daydreaming of severance or their exit strategy. Though it is possible talking to those people might provide a lead to a job elsewhere. Now that is one checkmark for RTO.
