Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Workplace Technology

It's nice of MB to gaslight people for the failures of VDI. It's your fault you didn't do enough training and you didn't use the two week user testing period properly.

No MB. The VDI implementation sucks.

VDI's, if implemented correctly work great, especially for dev. The prob is that the yahoo(s) that sit around large tables showed numbers on how much they could save by pushing the majority of the bank to them. They then started implementing it, spent a god-awful fortune like they always do, started rolling it out prematurely (bonuses) without hardly any pilot testing, and now...... Well, we are now seeing the issues. There are waaaaaaay to many lobs with wonky old school apps for this to go smoothly. Now, for the big wigs, they see it working great because they have the best hardware and all they do is read email, but none of them use it.. So to them it's a win win, to the real workers, pfffffftttttt.
The numb heads went full bore into HCP anywhere, spent tons of money, mass issues, only to now realize it was also a fail. Now users will have to endure going to onedrive.

I always laugh RTO myself when I catch WF gaslighting or trolling employees with their emails to us. There are still so many asleep and who do not see what is happening right in front of us.

WF has never had leadership that values technology professionals to be technology professionals. This is why simple technologies such as VDI are poorly implemented.

The subpar experience is a direct reflection of upper management values.

he is a dinkus. never liked the guy. but for real, let's blame the user base. while they do not read emails and what not, this is something HE is pushing on folks.

this is no different than when the helpdesk call volume and wait times were out of control. noone at his level give a dam about it until someone high up within the line of business chimed in.

probably the same reason this is all paused. cr-ppy rollout and implementation. blame is on him and him only for allowing this bull cr-p

They’re rolling it back for the time being in audit because it can’t do screen-captures, which is one of the most important functions on an auditor’s computer… you can’t make this stuff up.

Right! It's so like WF mgmt to blame the user for needing to request sw apps that they already had installed in their legacy devices and to know that some embedded .XYZ app isn't compatible with the VDI...

Audit complained so much because we cannot take screenshots in teams they sent an email poll if we want to rollback and not have VDI. I can’t wait to rollback. VDI = epic fail

The point is to pass the costs of computers on to the employees.

Eventually onky executives will have a corporate laptop. You'll have to provide your own. They'll be gone by 2026.

I got 3 go - no go emails about VDI. I'm on it now but find it to be a pain. Slow to get on, older software versions on it, mouse doesn't scroll... what's the point of all this anyway???

Gotta love the “you are scheduled for VDI” emails quickly followed up a few days later with “your VDI implementation is now on hold” blah blah blah.

WF - that level of poor planning and leadership is only on your shoulders, not the average Jo.

It is NEVER a Director or Executives fault UNLESS the Regulators say so.

Until then (and even after!!) c-suite will continue to funnel all blame down on the “past leadership” and the hands on working employee (who has NO control over the incompetent decisions made by the Directors or Execs)!
