Hiring Freeze in Finance

My two of my coworkers left my team in Finance (good for them) this past month and my manager says he can't backfill due to a hiring freeze. How long do these things usually last? Does anyone know anything about this freeze in particular? I can't keep up with the extra work.

The hiring freeze will continue as long as CS is CEO.

I’m in finance and we are hiring. But external employees or lower level employees only. Not allowed to hire if a lateral move for the candidate. Not sure why.

Hiring freezes will be all over the company. Be prepared for more layoffs

I worked in a Finance role for a number of years here, pay was pathetic. I went from pulling in 110K. I got into sales and have averaged close to ~500K all up, its been way more fun, i love the people I'm around, its like a different world. Finance is all pain, the worst pathetic backstabbing coworkers, and low wages. if your in a Finance role, get out and expand your horizons.

All I’m saying is that you need to work harder. It sounds to me like you aren’t working hard enough currently.

@dlv+1mzBmQhZ Reading comprehension is your friend if you're going to try to call someone out. The fool referred to 10hrs a WEEK, not Day.

To they guy that thinks we should work 10 hours a day due to workload, do you get paid for 10 hours a day? What is wrong with you? I get paid for 40 hours a week. If the expectation is 50 hours a week, the 7 Trillion dollar company should pay me for 50 hours a week.

Hiring American is frozen. But H1B visa hiring continues through Jun 2023 as we know.

You should really stop assuming things. Some people are already burning the candle at both ends. At times I've worked 70+ hours a week at WF, almost all the major holidays at one time or another, countless weekends and late nights etc. If I say "I can't handle extra work", sometimes I really can't handle extra work and management needs to adjust accordingly.

However long for them to get back on track with their Budget target. Duh

Those freezes are only in the US. They are replacing you as quick as they can in India.
Same in my dept - nobody can be hired, unless they are in India.

“ I can't keep up with the extra work.”

Maybe stop being lazy and simply work harder?? You might have to start working more than 10 hrs a week now.

We have been told there is a hiring freeze in WIM. The only problem with that is, the more people leave and the heavier the workload gets, the less chance I have of getting a package. 😏

Our LOB freeze goes into effect 6/1

Yes, many LOB have a freeze right now. Like every policy though, there's always exceptions.

I was wondering if there is a hiring freeze. There are many positions in audit that appear to not be backfilled and others taking many months to fill and excuse after excuse about why it has not been filled. They are trying to break every one.

Lasts until they can backfill those jobs in India. Be ready to train your new Indian peers in about 90 days.

Every role is considered for India now - thanks to Charlie.

They rarely ever backfill and I have been here for decades. Get used to doing more and more work.
