Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Are you doing your part to live our Purpose?

Can you actually believe that we paid a lot of money to some marketing consultant (probably some C suiters brother-in-law actually) to come up with that nonsense that no one understands or gives a flying flap about?

to: @2xtf+1mxIfbfI My comment was to retired employees who just lost the guarantee that their pensions would not be decreased or eliminated. An action taken by corporate T. The long time employees just lost and T received 325 million at the cost of those retirees.

Current employees may work to keep the ship afloat and help the C suite stay rich, but how will you feel when your pension is cut in half.

NOTE: craft/union pension is managed by the union and not at risk, nor is director or high paid management employees.

Shame on you for having that attitude regarding your employer's products. I've been an ATT mobility subscriber for over 29 years and know it's just like the rest of the providers out there. It works great in some areas of the state, no so great in other areas! I've never used T entertainment services, so I can't speak for that product group. as far as it's billing and customer service, I've never had an issue!

@2sxe+1mxIfbfI asked why a T employee would not want to use T services.

For the same reason someone selling Fiats will drive a Honda, or why someone assembling a First Act guitar will play a Fender or Gibson. Just because you work for a garbage company doesn't mean you have to use their garbage.

Boy this slogan just drips of blaming the entire workforce for all of T's failures over the past 10 years, because obviously the executives are blameless.

Did you really expect anything else from T?

If you're still employed by T, why would you want to cut your services from T to hurt their bottom line? Makes no sense! If you have many years left to work and like working for T, you should do everything you can to support the company and help make it successful! I know I did in my long tenure with T!

Germany after WW2: the government said the people & military were at fault for a failed plan. The people & military don't deserve the fine leadership. I guess we all know where the plan came from.

excellent comments by "it was not the employees who"

no pension guarantee (pension may go under in 10-15 years) & possible Soc Sec reduction. Retirees get even, drop T products.

Is this what Stankey meant when he said "the failed acquisitions were not my fault, the at&t employee base is solely responsible for failing to execute on he plan"
Now I get it!

The company stopped being my life years ago when it became abundantly clear they don’t care about any of the rank and file employees.

They’ve dug their own grave.

My purpose in life isn't to be all I can be for AT&T. Corporations would do well to remember that individuals have their own goals. I live my purpose when I live to my ultimate goal. I do my job at AT&T with integrity, but it is not my purpose. My purpose is to provide for my family.

I love this kind of reverse BS. To imply that the company's troubles are because of a workforce that is not doing enough to achieve the company's purpose is offensive. It wasn't the workers that came up and approved multiple failed strategies. It isn't the workers that view employees as "mouths to feed" or take pleasure in telling them "no one is safe". It wasn't the workers that came up with the idea that if you don't take part in a medical experiment you can't work here. It isn't the workforce that is cheering on quarterly layoffs It is the workforce that is pushing jobs to India. When you view your workforce as costs instead of assets you get what you deserve.

When high performing passionate people respond by pulling back and quietly quitting you know it’s bad. Until the leadership begins to follow the advice of the motivational speakers they’ve hired and -LEAD- people will continue to follow by the operational example and ride this org into the ground.

Did my part, building the world's best wireless network. Reviewed handful of supplier OOM's today and approved so a PO will get issued.

Our purpose is to be a utility but the company spends even more in lobbying dollars so we aren’t considered one. My purpose is to come to work, do a job, and get paid. All this extra stuff is a waste of time and money. The only people who care about purpose are the overpaid managers who work here

All VPs and above should be embarrassed. Purpose is the same trash as big oil’s campaign last year. How about we stop pretending like anyone even cares and we take all the advertising and lobbying money and put that toward… oh dunno… building out the network?! I can buy that our purpose is connection, but I don’t buy that it’s the best you can get for employees, customers, and shareholders.

There’s some new principles to work by? I just ignore it like the dozen others they’ve come out with. Living my “purpose” means working to make a living and provide for my family, do an honest and fair job and try not to let others swindle me out of my time.

After all this time they are going to pretend they care about the customer? Way too little and way too late. The only thing this company hates more than it’s employees are their customers.

It’s hard to find purpose when you’re in a workgroup that had a surplus two months ago and come to find out there is another one next month. I’m not sure the culture can be repaired.

Never heard of it, but they always come up with cheesy new phrases every couple of years that mean nothing.

My purpose is to get every last cent from this terrible company, and I’m living it well.
