Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The number of employees this company needs

The leadership feels that the company can function with far fewer people, and I wouldn't be surprised to see cuts more frequently in the future. That's just my opinion, don't take my word for it.
I wonder what is actually the optimal number of employees here? My team, for example, could not survive another cut.

Cutting their way to profitability is a cyclical business action to get higher paid employees out and then bring back lower paid employees with less benefits. Companies love to blame the economy or an event (9/11, Covid, etc) but truly it’s about maximizing shareholder value. Only company I don’t know that operates this way is Costco. Look at their stock vs your stock over the last 5 years.

If you are talking about the C-suite then probably 90% cut and start over. Next Lilly advertisement, Now under new management, watch us grow!
