Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Hiring temp splicers in texas

Had a meeting with our third line even though everyone is talking about layoffs looks like the company wants to go with hiring temp splicers again!
We lost at least 5 splicers in last 2 years and they haven't replaced any of them!
Third level said 70 plus temps to be hired around Tyler Dallas area.
Anyone know if this is happening yet or what the latest is in your area for C and E?

Giga Power is focused on OOF fiber build and soon will move to IF. Contracted services will be here to stay.

Sounds like they are falling behind but don’t see the work lasting but a few years.

"Demanding perm techs". Funny stuff. Not sure about Cali, but D4 has clear contract language that allows the company to hire temps. Would be nice if it was as simple as demanding the company do something.

Same thing in Cali. We have d-mb local presidents with 50 temp splicers instead of demanding perm techs.

Sounds fun. Typical AT&T phuckery. I know how to look up a SUITS ID, I can tell if they have been with AT&T 2 months or twenty years. Guess which one I will help?

Temporary jobs are only supposed to be a small percentage of the permanent ones.

Company is playing a game of not hiring permanent employees by hiring temps until their contract is up then letting them go for short time and then rehire.

The union needs to correct this issue. Temporary needs to be 6 months or less and no temp rehires for a period of a year or more after the 6 months are up.
