Offer the union field techs a package

Lets face it the few techs in field left have over 30 years or close to it there are no young ones so if verizon wants to get everyone off payroll why not let all field techs go on their way ??Then there would be no reason to riff the managers who have less time and dont want to go.The managers can stay and keep their job Its a win win for everyone thencompany has no field people on payroll to worry about.

I don't know why you think the time of techs is wrong and only ny has techs close to 30 years. Nj hasn't hired facilities techs since 2006 so our newest techs basically the rookies have at least 17 years. But Probably about 75% of all facilities techs in nj have over 25 years or more !

Do the math. Offer an EIPP, or pay the employees 3 more years wages? Unfortunately, it probably won’t happen, because Verizon didn’t have the foresight to hire new employees, and get them trained, before the rest of us leave.

Your assumption that all techs are close to 30 years is wrong. I'm guessing you are in NY. Outside of NY the amount of time is completely wrong

Old boomer field techs will either die off or become too old to work soon. Verizon isn't going to pay for that. They'll just wait it out as time is on their side. Besides, you have a contract. Honor it.

Ya I agree just offer the union associates a package of some sort .I mean something to make up for the loss with the gatt rate currently so the many many that want out can afford to go.Then vz can get the young ones they can mold to what they want never gonna change the old dogs

So again the question seems to be about the field union techs .If the company wants to get people off payroll they can just offer the union field a buyout package that would get most current field techs off the payroll problem is that would probably not save non union management jobs because if there were no field techs left probably would not need any management not too sure either who would be maintaining the actual network if field which includes all techs including central office techs, facilities techs ,building techs, system techs ,opt techs left

If they wanna get rid of employees. Make RTO mandatory. The number of people who will refuse to come back for all sorts of bullsh-t reasons will be amazing. Then have a stipulation , if you don’t RTO by the end of the month , you will be RIF’d. That’s a way to thin the herd.
