Thoughts on the 30 Minute Personal Interviews of our Leaders?

Might have started out as a good idea, but it went off track. The interviews have been too over the top in an attempt to “make it fun”, but the result has been unprofessional and a lost opportunity.

I’m guessing the Managers who are being interviewed are under pressure to play along with some higher-up’s goofy engagement ideas, but I would decline participation unless I had 100% control over the questions being asked.

As an employee, these are just a few of the questions I am interested in hearing honest and authentic answers to:

  1. What did you do differently from others to help you get to where you are today?
  2. How are you helping your employees to succeed and reach their full potential?
  3. What are you excited about in your LOB?
  4. How are you setting a good example for your team?
  5. What are the important traits you look for when hiring a new employee??
  6. What books do you recommend on Leadership?
  7. To female leaders with daughters or nieces: What will you tell your daughter/niece about getting ahead as a woman in the financial industry? Would you advise your daughter/niece to go in to the financial industry?
  8. How are you managing work/life balance?
  9. What are some of the challenges you are facing as a leader at Wells Fargo?
  10. How do you manage your time effectively in the face of competing priorities and distractions?
  11. What was your Major, and how did it help you get to where you are today?
  12. What are you doing to enhance collaboration on your team?

I have a lot more questions to add if the poor soul who is in charge of this mess is interested.

This is a business, not a social club. Let’s let our leaders lead and let’s keep our eye on the ball.

These overpaid leaders are sucking the soul out of the company. Thanks blackrock for your DEI mandates. Like bro go pull up a report or find something else to do…

You’re eager to learn more about the puppets. I’m waiting for the introductions with their gender identities and pronouns so I can take screen shots and make them go viral to expose what they’re trying to turn this place into. We are not the same :)

They are happening, unfortunately, within WFA. Not sure about the other LOBs.

No idea what the OP is talking about. Haven't seen these but yeah - I'm sure they're less entertaining and more predictable than a Nickelodeon sitcom.

Agreed. They have been cringey. I feel sorry for everyone involved.

I must be successfully accomplishing my goal of not giving more than I absolutely need to for this company, as I had no idea these 30 minute interviews were even occurring.

Maybe 5 years ago I would have been interested in the questions OP posed, but now I could care less what their fake answers are to these questions. None of their answers from the current regime would change opinion of them.

Quite frankly, don’t care and doesn’t change my life, so…

Softball questions execs love to answer without risk of self incrimination.

Go to YouTube and find interviews done by much more competent managers, fielding the same questions
