Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How much money is remote work worth?

I know it varies by person for different reasons, but how much would 100% remote be worth to you in salary adjustment. I realize it's absurd that where you sit would matter if your productivity is the same, but it is what it is.

e.g., If deciding between jobs, one allows 100% remote and the other is 3 in/2 out but $15K more salary -- if all other things being equal for sake of example, which would you choose?

I turned down a 30k increase to stay remote vs 3-5 days in office and close to a 2hr commute. Glad I did.

Remote work is worth every penny not to have the mental anguish of a 2 hour commute every day. FRTO

Remote hands done. No wear and tear on your car. No food costs as you eat from home. No need for dress clothes. 2 hours extra time to work every day vs commute time. Not sitting in the office with sick people.

Why would I accept less to WFH? They were willing to pay me to WFH for over 20 years.

Meant to say. would take 100k and 100% remote over 150k and even one day RTO. Why? Because I cannot live where I want. I have been laid off and now is the perfect to be free from the shackles of the WF office and any other corporate office.

I'd take a 4% pay cut. That's what it costs me annually to RTO.

I'd only take 3 in/2 out (giving up 100% remote) for 30% more.

Actually, on 2nd thought, nothing would make me go in to office. I'm a professional who has worked remotely 15 years and been a top performer.

Don’t sacrifice. I left WFC in 2021. I make $28,000 MORE and work 1 day a week in the office. New employer matched my PTO and I started at a salary that was = to my salary + bonus in my final year at Wells (the bonus wax from the year before of course.). I left because my spineless middle manager stole 2/3rds of my March ‘21 bonus by making up BS to justify “Inconsistently Meets.” Seems like I very Consistently Meet my new goals just fine since I just got a bonus on top of my fat raise and matched PTO …and 2 days per pay period in the office. F Wells Fargo!

Would need at least 50% more for full time RTO.

25% increase would be breaking even in added time dedicated to work a week. So it would need to be more to incentivize it.

25% increase to go in 3 days a week. 50% increase to go in 5 days a week.

So bump my pay by $65K if you want me in 5 days a week. Bump my pay $32.5k and I'll do 3x a week.

Full remote worker here, I have turned down positions with $40K increases that were in office. It is not worth the money for the lost time and added stress.

I would choose 2 in 3 out for $15,000 more salary if management wasn’t micro-managing it like a pre-school. Flexibility is the reality of today’s workplace and the future.

AND workspaces should be MUCH more modern, pleasant, clean and private. If you want your employees to come to the office: bathrooms should be clean and functioning, sewers shouldn’t stink, unsanitary hotel seating shouldn’t be our only option, parking should be free and easily available, pay-up for cleaning services who actually clean, healthy fresh food should be available, carpets shouldn’t be ripped and stained, employees should have access to fresh air spaces. Charlie the Cheapskate can’t expect his employees to want to come to back to work in some of our buildings’ abhorrent conditions.

From where I live to the office (25ish miles) and if I was already full time remote, I'd take $15k to go in 3/2. Almost a no brainer. And I make six figures, so it's not like this would be a 30% pay bump. $15k bump out of nowhere is a about $750/month which is some good breathing room. The family and I would make it work. It's not like they are strict with 8-5...yet

Another 100% remote here with a slightly different take.

I'm presently below my pre-Charlie market value while being 100% remote for longer than Charlie has been here. Therefore, adjusting my current setup would require an offer of more money on WF's part, not less.

Especially when you consider that the nearest LOB campus is over 300 miles away.

100% remote here.

Never going to answer this on a public forum. HR peeps will start to pitch this expense cut idea using the average percentage reduction we are “willing to accept” as a way to start tagging remote location code people for salary cuts. “Look at me and this great expense cut we can make that people are willing to accept for what they already have!”

Neve go the table showing your hand.

You're paid what you're worth. This includes RTO ability and the lack thereof.
