I’ll do the write up because it helps me figure out talking points for what I’ve done the last 6 months. I can use that to help me for whatever comes next.

@izd+1mMK0qBC No problem. Just say the same thing in corporate speak.

Feedback continues to communicate that I have an excellent internal reputation for providing exceptional work product as required by all clients and stakeholders. Bla Bla Bla. Done.

@adh+1mMK0qBC - Any manager urging (or requiring) you to do a self-evaluation is doing so because they otherwise have no idea what they'd write about what you do unless you tell them.

Historically, we did this because we thought highlighting all of our contributions would somehow impact our rating and/or bonuses/merits........or maybe some thought that doing a self-eval would 'make it easier' on the manager when they had to write their own comments about you and in turn, they might think more favorably of you when it came to rating/bonus time.

Reality check, I was a manager for most of a decade here. I also required self-evals and I can tell you that none of what I put above ever influenced how I rated someone whatsoever. Your manager's opinion of you doesn't get determined during evaluation time.

Don't do a self-eval. Force your manager to write their own comments and deliver them to you without being able to regurgitate what you've already written for them.

I want to join you, but we’ve been “reminded” that they are due and verbally that wasn’t positioned as optional.

So like EVERYTHING at WF, it is one thing in print for artifact purposes and another thing in reality.

Not sure what I’m going to end up doing. I know I’m on the chopping block at some point due to location strategy. I suspect I’ll be here for another year IF I’m reading the tea leaves correctly and so they can squeeze more work out of me until India is ready to take my job .

Some of the behind the scenes of the mid year review requires managers to rank employees on the team. We used that in the past to determine who would be let go if we had a reduction in force. As a manger I don't love doing them but they are a good starting conversation with employees and I basically use it as a justification on the year end. If you are leaving shortly there is no reason to complete it but if you like your manager please help.

Nothing more than a 'check the box' activity with no outcome of any value. Too bad for us... This place is a shitshow... can't wait to leave.

Never did them and sometimes I get Exceeds sometimes Meets (or whatever the equivalent useless ratings systems were in years past)

I have never done my mid-years because I know they do not matter. It is just an exercise for HR.

Same. Two levels of management have said, they write 5 sentences and that what you write won’t change your rating.
