Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Anyone else on the Jen Robertson call?

Now I see why the company is failing. What a pathetic display of leadership. The one stinging question a guy had she came back with a snarky response. The gang that can't shoot straight is leading mass markets and they were less than impressive.

“working from home was working with one arm tied behind our back. so there will be a massive improvement returning to the office.”

This was a good analogy.

So rude and disrespectful of the people losing their livelihood or being uprooted to waste so much time talking about free gym memberships and food quality. Then the nearly tearful, look how sad we are about your hardship, feel bad for us shtick.
They should at least split the meetings between those in hub locations and those who are not. 70+ unanswered questions.

i'm not the thread starter, so these are just my notes.

kind of fleshed out why they believe so strongly that for the company to succeed we need to all be on the office (and our team in the same office)

culture and relationships are lost when in a virtual environment.

she moved from san antonio to dallas, so you should suck it up.

they still provide plenty of flexibility. you can work from home a whole two days a week (after moving to your new job site)

when asked about the long term safety of moving to a core location
Jen said snarkily nothing is permanent rather than addressing the concern

working from home was working with one arm tied behind our back. so there will be a massive improvement returning to the office.

its hard to move fast when you're in 7 different locations.
If i had children in 7 different locations it would be difficult to get them all to the baseball game.
then she realized she just called us all children, and backpedaled

virtual roles are specific to the role, not the individual
its for jobs not requiring collaboration
and she would be highly suspicious of the value of any job not requiring collaboration

if you're a coder or in a spreadsheet all day, you should still be in an office networking

she denies there will be productivity loss in going back to the office only improvement.

she claims to have 40 hours of emails to read a week.

by the end of june, final work locations.
and robertson will have another q/a in early july.

Yes, they think if they repeat the same cr-p enough, they might believe it themselves. The laughter from front while talking about those losing their jobs was appalling.
They know very few people will relocate but try to act like cutting headcount is not the reason.
I found it ironic that they were talking about being in a central office while the HR representative was virtual for the call.
This call was a new low for me in my 30 plus years.

She’s just playing the game as glover of the month. In a few years she will be booted out as well and replaced with another looking and acting just like her. Rinse recycle repeat.
