Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Union employees. Take notice and learn, your retirement depends on this.

Read these post to see what AT&T is about. Tell anyone you can to read these posts. Of course we have been though surpluses for decades but this is something way different. Save your money, don't make any large purchases and pay down as much debt as you can. AT&T is in real trouble, and our pay and benefits are what Stankey is looking at. He is EYEBALLING our pension.
Our contract ends soon. Try to put away as much as you can. I promise you, if we do not have the ability to strike, we will be in the same place as the managers are finding themselves in now. It is not a good place.
I hate this for the managers that are forced to pay for Stankey's and Randell's absolutely inept decisions. It is going to disrupt so many lives.

If there is a union strike some day, most managers don’t have a clue how to do the job or won’t want to even try to do the job. Most lower level managers are pi---d @ the company and most techs just do the bare minimum to stay out off the radar. It’s like all the lower ranks are just here for the money and really don’t care anymore.

I’m done in two years and haven’t given two sh--s about this company since 2003 when they thought I should account for every second of my day through MSOC. My sole purpose was to cheat, lie and steal from that day forward and what a success I have been. I will never be someone’s bi--h to the degree of accounting for every second.

I won't lie. For every dollar AT&T spends to track my dime, continue on. I'll follow the example that Randell and Stankey have put forth. Overpay and sell low. I sleep well knowing I could had done nothing different.

We still have MSOC coaches though, that is where managers go before they are cut loose from the company.

This is not even an RTO initiative where you once went to your office, but have been working remotely and now must return to your previous office. This is Return To Office and guess what? Many of those offices will not exist anymore, and to comply with the RTO mandate you must go to an office that may not even be in your city or State.
This is nothing more than a headcount reduction tool. Any "leader" that says otherwise is well, lying.
The concerning thing apart from the disruption this will cause is why is the company doing this, this way. Previous surpluses for non bargained and bargained employees have had a scant veneer of reasoning for the layoffs. Technical obsolescence, role redundancies, consolidation of centers, etc.
This has none of that now. AT&T doesn't care what you do, how well you do it, how much you contribute, how many networks you have developed over the years that allow you reach out to someone to be more effective. (Some call that collaboration, and I do this with my phone, email or MS Teams, all remote tools. Weird right?)
AT&T is only trying to reduce headcount quickly and without regard to what is lost.
This is not a symptom of a healthy company trying be more productive. This a move of desperation by a very, very sick company.

T Stock $16.31.

Make no mistake about it, a strike is exactly what T wants.

Maybe so. Either way, I'm making preparations to oblige them.

MSOC = a square peg for a round hole. Always adding task but never adjust the numbers while continuing to remove codes and dispositions.

If T wants to quit paying into it then they need to lump sum it to us so we can grow it on our own.

I agree T is coming for Craft is next,or at the top of the list. Save your money is also good advice. BUT, I thought the union controlled our pension fund. T could reduce paying into the fund if a new contract allowed the reduction. BUT the base amount is not at risk as was the arrogant managers that now have an uninsured annuity. (no PBGC from the government). Waiting for a new book, can anyone confirm who has the Craft pension money?

I think this is sound advice for all employees. Watch your debt and save up enough for living expenses for at least 6 months unemployed. Saving for the inevitable rainy day is important.

Amen brother. Randall and Stankey have been drunk on their unchecked power , gambling with employees’ 40 and 50 year careers and their pensions. Not only have they not been held accountable , but have been rewarded with their stupidity. Randall to this day is still on payroll as a consultant, banking a million dollars every quarter. What is he consulting, how to destroy a company and pi-s away billions ? Managers are having to give back hard earned benefits and pay , if not losing their jobs altogether while Stankey and the board pay themselves increases pay and benefits. They’re coming after craft next. It’s way past time to strike and remind the board who generates their revenue. Fuuuuuck the board , Stankey and Stephenson. If there is justice in the world , may they burn in an everlasting he-l.
